Default The Americans, a new FX series

I truly believe this show is a MUST WATCH! i saw a promo ad for it last week and thought I'd give it a try, watched the pilot off my PVR last night and was blown away!

Great acting, superb writing, was action packed and already loads of suspense. It's a great premise as it is set in the 1980's about two Soviet KGB officers (Keri Russell who kicked ass and Matthew Rhys who I've never seen in anything else before but I'm already rooting for his character) who have been trained to impersonate your typical American suburban parents yet this seemingly average couple happen to actually be a set of Russian spies during the Cold War.

Tell me that doesn't sound awesome! If you missed the pilot episode, it is being replayed at three different times this Sunday on Shaw channels HD 267 & SD 156. You can record it so you wont miss the Super Bowl but i highly encourage everyone to check it out.

I thought it looked pretty bad from the promos, but I'll give it a chance since it is on FX and basically everything of FX is really good.

Meh.

Watched the first episode and was excited about the premise, but came away lukewarm.

Kerri Russell was fine, and I like that her character is unwavering so far, but I thought Matthew Rhys as Phillip Jennings and Noah Emmerich as FBI Agent Stan Beeman were really bland and uninteresting. I can't say I went away looking forward to seeing more from their characters the way I did of Damian Lewis' Brody and Mandy Patinkin's Saul

I thought it was quite good - I'll check it out again. How good was Fleetwood Mac's Tusk added in?

I finally watched it tonight and was pretty disappointed at the first half, but it definitely hooked me more as the episode progressed. I'll be giving this a chance. HBO has a similarly themed series that's been in development for a couple years. I wonder if FX rushed this series out to steal that thunder.

Great second episode, i really hope people are watching this show. I especially related to the shows two main characters because i have two children myself and would do anything to see them not get hurt. I love the 80's style gadgets, cars and clothes plus Matthew Rhys can kick some series ass, the maids brother was pretty big dude although not as big as the pedophile in the first episode but then this time Rhys didnt have a BBQ fork.

So far I have liked it. Really liked how they poisoned the maids kid in order to plant that device in the Secretary of Defense's clock.

I will keep watching!

Another great espionage thriller episode (just watched it last night off the PVR, recorded last Wednesday) with great acting and writing that is genuinely believable. I'm too young to know what happened in the 1980's between Russia and Ronald Reagan so it is very interesting stuff.

Great show, period.

Hangin' in the States right now and where I'm staying has FX so able to see the last two episodes. Great series. Very intriguing.

Not sure about this show. Thought it was great at first but now I am really questioning some things, I could normally let slide in a zombie show or something like that.

2 examples I can think of off the top of my head are, at one point the husband is in a phone booth on a deserted street talking to someone and then he hangs up the phone, turns around and there are 6 or so guys standing there who abduct him. Part of his talents of being an elite spy would be to notice 6 guys sneaking up on him, on a deserted street.

Another would be the head of the Russian embassy or whatever it is who is old fat etc, and all of a sudden the beautiful young Russian spy starts having sex with him because she is lonely? really? he's been doing this sort of work for 40 odd years and he didn't realize he was being played?

many other little things like this are starting to bug me about this show.

and I don't really like John Boy as head of the CIA.

Anyone still watching this?

Reminds me of FX's other big show Sons of Anarchy in that it's got a cool concept but their execution is just a little too cheesy to be great. They know shows like Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Game of Thrones and True Detective are out there ... I'm not sure why these networks think that they can get away with schlocky network style acting and plot.

I gave up, watched the first S2E1, and my pvr stopped recording the series and I was fine with that.
Too many other good things to watch.
