Default BMW's New 4 series lineup

BMW's new 4 Series lineup to replace 3 Series Coupe, convertible

Quote:
On Wednesday (today Dec 5th, 2012), the company released the first concept images of what will be the BMW 4 Series coupe when it comes to market in 2013.

Though the car is entirely based on the latest generation 3 Series that we tested in early 2012, BMW will now put the sportier coupe and convertible versions under the 4 Series banner. Thus you should expect a a base 428i to have the sedan's 2-liter, turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine making something in the neighborhood of 240 horsepower. It will be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual.

The faster 435i will likely have BMW's 3-liter turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine making around 300 horsepower and mated to your choice of the aforementioned transmissions.
BMW hasn't announced pricing for the 4 Series Coupe, but its going to cost more that a series. With better handling and more luxurious inside.

You can read more about it here, or just google it.

Thoughts and options?

I personally really like the 3 series, especially the 335is and M3. I think this new 4 series looks more aggressive. A mix of a 6 series coupe and Audi S5 coupe.

I can't wait to see the M4 then!

I find their latest styling far too aggressive.

Way too busy and a bit too much brown...
But it looks like they fixed the cup holder problem! No longer going to have you front passenger complaining about his/her knees hitting the cup holders.

Just way too much going on in their styling these days...it gets old fast. They've lost that understated but elegant presence they used to have. That and their SUV's are looking like their own Chinese knock-offs.

I definitely prefer the e36 generation. Understated and timeless.

Yeah the exterior looks sick, but the interior is a mess. It'd be fun to have a retractable hard top version.

It kind of looks like the 6 series and an aston martin had a baby. I really like the lights though. The splitter looks sick as well.
I can't wait to see the M4.

When I was younger I owned 2 different E36's.... loved those cars. So ahead of their time IMO. Its incredible how many E30 and E36 enthusiasts still exist

How stupid is BMW?

No Chinese person is going to buy a 4 series.

I can't believe marketing would alienate one of its biggest markets like that.

Incredibly stupid move by BMW.

Wait maybe I read it wring and they are only replacing the coupe and convertible but still, lots of Chinese buy those products.

Would the M4 pretty much replace the M3 then? It seems like the vast majority of M3 buyers opt for the coupe, which is apparently a 4 series now.

I like the styling. I think the old E36 looks a bit too understated. The 4 series seems to take elements from a lot of other brands, like from the Audi S5 and the Mercedes CLS. I don't like how BMWs cars keep getting bigger though.

First, the number 4 by itself is unlucky, not 428 or 435, which is what these cars will actually be.

Second, they can't even decide if a number is lucky or unlucky: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Numbers_in_Chinese_culture

Lucky numbers: 2 3 5 6 7 8 9
Unlucky numbers: 4 5 6 7 49

5, 6, and 7 are both lucky and unlucky.

I really hope not

However a friend told me today, that BMW will only continue to produce 3 series sedans... I'm not to sure about this
