Agreed, I can only handle so much of the blair witch project.

I don't think the movie is handheld cams at all. It's just a teaser with some news story that makes it look that way. The trailer is suppose to be attached to The Hobbit. So I guess we'll find out soon.

Yeah, Del Torro doesn't seam like a director that would resort to that sort of the a gimmick.
Given his work with Pen's Labyrinth, Hellboy and others I expect the monsters to be pretty impressive standalone entities. If there is any director out there that won't need a shaky camera to create a sense of terror, Del Torro is it.
Kinda torn. Am a big fan of Del Toro's sort of gothic creature and storytelling design, and would happily watch and rewatch a lot of his earlier stuff, but big robots and stuff don't really float it for me. There seems like a lot of room for this thing to veer dangerously close to goofy patriotic Bay quality. It just seems so unlike Del Toro to move that direction. Get the sneaking feeling there is some heart and some good storytelling at work in this flick, underneath the trailer somewhere. Hope so anyway.
Was hoping for the guys in the actual suits, but it seems like they went the "Real Steel" route. Hopefully the movie turns out ok.
Yeah I was thinking it would be more of a Voltron/power rangers type thing. Although there's nothing to say that those guys aren't inside the robots. I dunno, looks kinda cool. I'll probably see it.

Speculation (based on some cryptic comments from previous Del Torro interviews) is that the new Jaegers are remotely piloted. However, the older obsolete Jaeger Gipsy Danger is piloted from the inside.
Actually, confirmed. Take a look at this poster:

hmm...looks like all jaegers are not remotely piloted. The japanese jaeger coyote tango only has one person to power it. While the chinese jaeger crimson typhoon needs 3 people.
