[Trade] Shake up in DC

The Washington Capitals & New Jersey Devils have made a trade.

Washington trades: Bieksa, Langkow and a 1st rnd pick

in return

New Jersey trades: Hjarmalsson, Prospal, 3rd, 4th and 5th rnd picks

I feel like a first round pick was a pretty steep price to pay however, this trade fulfilled exactly what I was looking for. A left handed, mobile, puck moving D who is entering his prime.

While trading Langkow for Prospal looks like a filler trade, it was quite significant for me because I was looking for an offensive centre who could fill in for the injured Getzlaf (40+ games). Being on the last year of his contract also made him appealing.

Having 2 picks in rounds 2-5 softened the blow of losing the first rounder.

Best of all I get the Canucks stench out of the locker room

TSN reports that fellow Swedes Henrik Sedin and Oliver Ekman-Larsson are not happy with the trade of Niklas Hjalmarrson. Both declined to comment on the trade following Thursday night practice.......

Reports out of New Jersey say that both players have demanded a trade to Washington so they could play with Niklas
