Tough Mudder 2013 - Calgary - July 20 & 21
Anyone planning on doing this or done this in the past? My father-in-law wants to do this together and I'm going to be honest, it's a little intimidating.

Thinking about trying a Spartan Sprint as a prep, 5k and 15 obstacles sounds pretty easy by comparison.

That looks sweet. I'd have a lot of training to do in order to complete that.

That looks awesome. I bet we could put together a CP team and donate the proceeds to charity.

Honestly, the part that scares me the most is the electric shock stuff, running through bare wires where I am guaranteed to get shocked with 10000 volts doesn't sound too fun, imagine catching one in the face.

Yeah that stuff kept me away from Tough mudder this year, just seems stupid. What's the point of things like that, or having a bunch of burning trash beside a portion so you have to breathe in the fumes? Just seems like a stupid way to make it seem 'hardcore' or something like that.

I'm in. I did Mud Hero this pass July at it was a blast. This though looks about 10x harder.

A friend did Sparta and she said there was hardly any running because there were so many people being funneled into such a narrow course, you could only go as fast as the person in front.
Another friend did the Tough Mudder in Whistler and it looked like there were sections that were more "run-able" but all of the obstacles looked pretty backed up by the looks of her pictures
I think it's more of a fun thing than a hard-core challenge. And just an excuse to get dirty and then drink beers after.

Our company has discussed putting a corporate team in and I will likely sign up.
It looks like a pretty fun time although I was hoping that it would be competitive so I will be disappointed if a lot of the time is spent waiting for your turn on an obstacle.

Well, I'd imagine if you get in front of the mindless horde you will find a pretty competitive group, it's like deerfoot, you are only as fast as the slowest car.
To me, it's more about completing it with a team than the speed, afterall, this isn't something you can just get off the couch and do without training.

The trailers make it look much harder than it is. There are a lot of people who sign up (and finish for that matter) who don't have any fitness and are just looking to have some fun.

A number of friends did Whistler this year, and all had great things to say.

Not happening in 2013 in Calgary. Vancouver June 22 & 23 and Seattle October 5 & 6. Likely Calgary in 2014.
