Default Who do you use for TV and what do you pay?

Just looking at starting up with Shaw, going through their website... kind of annoying trying to figure out exactly what i want to get ( really i only watch sports on my TV but the wife watches some other stuff).

What do you guys get and what do you pay? Im leaning towards just their standard HD package (has TSN and SN HD included).

I'm on the broadband 50 bundle package with internet, basic phone, and basic cable. I paid an extra $10 for the sports package. All I really want are 3 channels: CBC, SN, and TSN. Too bad I can't just pay for those and that's it.

I pay $110 a month. I was on a promo for 6 months before for $60/month, but that's ended now.

I pay $110/month for Shaw BB100 and Personal TV + Sports 1. Same as The Yen Man, but no phone and bumped up internet.

I'm on Bell satellite and pay about $98.00 a month which includes a $20 discount. I get all the sports channels and most of the HD channels and the movie channels (probably will drop these). In the winter it's $50 more for 4 mo. for Centre Ice. Bell has gone to a new theme packages though and now it's a choice of good, better and best options.

I've got way to much TV choices because I've also got Shaw TV. Shaw phoned me and gave me a deal of a free HD box rental and some basic HD TV programming (TSN and RSN as well) plus my extreme speed internet for $35/mo for a year. This is cheaper than my internet alone so I took the deal.

Yeah, I could cancel Bell but in this rural area Shaw doesn't have Centre Ice so it's a no go.

On Shaw and looking at switching to Telus. All new channels are MPEG4 which requires a new Shaw box at $10/m more...plus I dont think they have wireless like Optik yet.

We pay ~$210/m for phone, internet, nearly full HD. Simply WAYYYY too much $$.

Shaw for Internet.

I connect my cable into the back of my TV to get free cable to channel 50.

Also, for those still paying basic cable and the sports package Sportsnet and TSN is now included in basic cable.

Which would be awesome except for when the Flames games are not on Sportsnet West but on Sportsnet Flames.

For those with Telus, do you like their service? Its almost 40 bucks less a month for Telus over Shaw.

I know shaw is reliable, no idea about Telus though.

On TELUS. I have the basic + Best of HD which is 46 dollars. Shaw had this out for 2 weeks before increasing their price a lot. The best of HD is crazy awesome, I have just about all the HD telus carries except for oprah winfry and FX Canada. Maybe a couple more but I don't notice.

We have the basic Telus combo of TV/Internet/Phone for $100 - this is with 2 theme packs for sports and kids programming. With hockey season about to end, we'll probably cancel the sports channels. I pretty much only watch TV on demand now with a Boxee Box. TV shows are at worst, delayed by a few hours. And I actually spend less time sitting in front of a TV channel surfing.

Just internet and tv with Telus. Got a year free internet b/c of my builder. Paying about $60 per month for virtually every HD channel incl. movie central.

Shut up, does that actually work? That's friggin' brilliant. I'd have to run an audio return to my amp, but still.

I wish there was a way to pay for JUST the HD channels through Shaw Direct.

It is by no means automatic, but in a lot of cases if you have Shaw Internet only you can get the analog channels for your TV. This happens if when the TV was disconnected from the residence a 'video trap' wasn't installed. Sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't.

Telus is alright. One issue is the HD channels. If you have a family and plan on watching HD on more than one TV you should make sure Telus can support it. We can only watch one HD channel at a time.

After all the promos expired with Telus Optik TV and Internet I pay $122 with the Your Pick package which is the middle package they have with 9 theme packs and corresponding HD channels.
