Default Dual band or IPv6 Router?

I would like to upgrade my router and I'm currently looking at a couple of different models. I've been using the D-Link gamer lounge for almost 5 yrs not but think it's getting a hair flaky.

Whole Home Router:

DIR-825 Dual Band:

I used to have some issues with one computer in the house dropping off the network. I have since upgraded the cordless phones in the house using an ultralow frequency and haven't had any isues since. What other advantages are there to using dual band vs one that seems more future friendly using IPv6?

If you were in the market, what would you choose? I like a good, secure router that prioritizes traffic. That was the primary factor to me buying the one I currently use (gamefuel).

Don't base a purchasing decision on IPv6, it's too far off to be of any concern, and certainly not within the lifespan of a DLink product. I have an IPV6 tunnel set up on my Apple router, and while it works, there's precious few websites that support IPV6 currently, so it was mainly done as proof of concept for myself.

It remains to be seen too how ISP's will implement IPV6 to the home - I bet they will use Teredo as a first step, in which case you don't need IPV6 network gear at home at all for your IPV6 capable hosts to reach IPV6 sites.

I'm personally not a big fan of D-Link products, but I would highly recommend the Netgear WNDR3700 which you can get for $100 (and it supports both).

Wait... who is selling routers that aren't already ipv6 compatible?

both those routers you linked appear to have ipv6 support, as should any router manufactured in the last few years.

Crap, sorry, I had the same link copied twice. Fixed the 2nd one to point to the correct router.

I have the DLINK 825 and have had no issues with it. It is also IPv6 ready.

The 5Ghz band, in my area of town (medium density), benchmarks at 5x the speed of the 2.4Ghz band in sustained throughput. I wouldn't even consider buying a 2.4Ghz band router any longer.

Both those routers support ipv6, go with the dual-band.
