Abottsford heat sign Hugh Jessiman
The #AHLHeat have officially signed Hugh Jessiman, a 6'6" forward from Lake Erie who has recorded 20 goals this season.
I think this might just be a depth move to help our struggling heat. Good size though. Maybe he can earn a contract with the flames; we would have to get rid of a contract though as we are at the 50 contract limit.

^^ Hahaha. Took me a minute to see it, but yeah, I agree.
Good move for the Heat though.

His wiki is far more telling:

Another grasping at the straws for the Heat in free fall.

6'6"? Wow, that Hugh Jessiman is a huge specimen.
In the "can't miss" first round of the 2003 Draft, he was the miss.

Holy crap haha.
I knew that name was familiar.
Taken between Carter and Brown.
Heat need some help, not only are they catering to the Flames injuries, but have some of their own. Decent signing for them.

Outside of Phaneuf, the flames got a combined 11 games (1 for Ramholt and 10 for Moore) from the other 8 picks in the draft. Talk about strikeouts.

I'm not entirely sure what the Rangers saw in him when he was drafted...even at the time he was a little off the boards for a pick.

Another team that did bad in that draft was the Islanders. 3 2nd round picks and the best of them only got <60 games. They got 600 nhl games or so games worth of players in that draft, but teams like Boston and LA got that from 1 guy.

Just wondering: How can the Heat sign a player from another team during the season? Was Hugh's contract up? For a guy that has scored 20 goals, surely the Monsters would've tried to retain him?
Anyone know how this works?

He had a Pro tryout contract with Lake Erie that expired and I guess both couldn't agree on a new deal leaving him as a free agent.
