Plug the phone into the wall jack if you're on a landline.

If on cell- restart phone.

If this doesn't help, try paying your bill.

If this doesn't work, call telus.

oops. What I meant was that when I tried calling a person usually there is ringing before the person picks up but at the time there was none. I was using my iPhone and it was stuck on "calling <insert name here>" and never connected to <insert name here>.
hopefully that makes sense
sorry about the confusion

I'm pretty sure my suggestions were what you wanted-

Try restarting the iPhone (I've had this issue on my phone, and a reset fixes it every time)

If it was a landline (you didn't specify), then plug the jack into the wall. They sometimes come loose, and make you look like an idiot, but that's what happens.

And if all else failed, use a working line and call telus. Boom.

Unrelated to the OP's issue, but Telus has turned on their LTE network as of today.

The coverage seems to be the same as Bell's which is spotty at best, and reminds me of the late 90's digital coverage. If you zoom into Calgary's coverage, it covers downtown and random areas that has little pockets randomly connected/scattered (such as by the new cell tower at Glenmore and Crowchild, that seems to be only within 50 feet of the tower, and thats it) coverage.
