Thumbs up FS: ASUS HD 5870 2GB Matrix ROG Edition Graphics Card

This is an ASUS HD 5870 2GB Matrix card. This has been used by itself in a gaming system for the past 6 months. This card has many unique features including ASUS' own clock generator, voltage testing points, the ability to write and burn in your own BIOS safely, LED load indicator (the MATRIX changes color depending on load), and a safe mode button if you ever set the wrong overclocking settings or wrong BIOS settings. This is one of the only videocards that will allow you to adjust GPU voltage, VDDCI Voltage, Memory Voltage, and even the individual memory timings. The cooler has a full metal backplate and fully enclosed cooling system with a larger centrifugal blower fan (than reference cards) which will exhaust all the hot air outside your case as compared to most fans out there were are axial fans which will exhaust hot air back into your system.

Please see manufacturer websites:

- ASUS Super Hybrid Engine: boost up to 19% GPU performance by reducing 54% power noise
- 8+2+2 phase power auto switch reduces 54% GPU power noise
- iTracker2: the world’s only memory timing adjustment and allow you to save the favorite settings into system and recover
- Extreme Cooler: 13% Cooler and 22% Stronger Air Pressure with special designed fan.The unique fan blows 22% more air on components while the PCB is 13% more thermally efficient than reference
- ProbeIt: Easily measure the voltage of GPU, Memory and PCI-E bus with the Multimeter

Graphics Engine

Due to a change in the numbering scheme for ATI products for marketing purposes, the 5870's successor is not the 6870 but actually the 6970 and therefore, the 5870 slots between the 6950 and 6970 in terms of performance. The 6950 has 1408 stream processors or shaders. The 6970 has 1536 shaders. The 5870 has 1600 shaders. Aside from raw clockspeed, the shader count is the main factor in card cost and performance. 1GB of vram is more than sufficient unless you are running very high resolutions and antialiasing (ie: 5760x1080 with 8x AA). The main improvements of the 69xx series are improvements in tessellation performance in dx11 which nets the 6970 about a 5-10% faster performance over the 5870.

BFBC2 (same engine as BF3) benchmarks below. This card will actually run faster than the below chart at higher resolutions and with higher levels of anti-aliasing (AA) because it has 2GB of GDDR5 versus the 1GB of most 5870s.

I have a set of Sapphire 2GB 6950s in Crossfire and this Matrix card benchmarks and runs games faster than them individually but I have way too much extra hardware and don't need so many gaming systems anymore. This card requires two 8-pin PCI-E power connectors but includes adapters for converting 6 pin connectors to 8 pin connectors. I can give you some moelx to 6-pin adapters as well if you need them. Current 2GB 6950s will run you $275-$315 after tax. 6970s go for $380-$430 after tax. This is comparable to both.

I'm asking $240 OBO for this card.

I will consider trade value for the HyperX Genesis 8GB DDR3-1600MHz that Memory Express was selling for $20 on Black Friday or water cooling parts (looking for Corsair Hydro or Antec Kuhler units...or a separate 240mm radiator and 1155 compatible block and pump, etc.). Also looking for P67 or 68 socket 1155 motherboards.

Feel free to PM me or Email Me with any questions.
