So is the e supposed to be in his last name or not? I've seen both spellings, Bartschi and Baertschi.

that's awesome.
Is this his final year in junior, as in next season would he be ahl eligible, or back to junior still?
Sorry don't know much about that aspect of prospects.

he could still be sent back to the WHL as a 20 year old if the Flames decide that would be better for his development, but give his talent and compete level they will most likely put him in the AHL if he doesn't make the NHL

No, we can't. Junior players can only be recalled in the event of an emergency (i.e. there's no one else to call up.
In other words, unless the entire AHL lineup of forwards plus enough of the Flames forwards gets sick before tomorrow's game, Bärtschi isn't coming up.

Technically when you convert the a + umlaut to English, it translates to ae.

Bartschi is wrong.
Either Baertschi or Bärtschi are correct. When a German name that contains an umlaut is converted to a language that doesn't use the umlaut, the spelling is changed to put an E after the vowel with the umlaut.
The Winterhawks have the umlaut on his jersey, but the Flames do not (no NHL player has their name spelled with any accent marks).
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, this kid will never play a single AHL regular season game. He'll make the jump straight to the Flames next year.

Great week by Bärtschi. Hopefully he picks up right where he left off tomorrow.
Of course...
Flames still have no prospects.

With all the expiring contracts, many of them not going to be re-signed, I have little doubt that he'll be at least on the 3rd line on the Flames next season.

As far as I know he still has another year after this one of WHL play before he can play in the AHL. My guess is that he makes the Flames either next Sept. or the one after though.

I would like to see him play a year in the AHL on the first line as opposed to playing on our 3-4 lines next year. Let him learn the pro game, understand what it takes to be an everyday professional, and then make the big club. That being said, if he has a great training camp next year and begins on the first 2 lines, then keep him up.
