Probably means his health has taken an unfortunate turn for the worse. I can't see him leaving Apple otherwise.

I really dread that we are going to get much worse news soon. I keep hope that he makes a miracle comeback like his company did.
Cancer is a mo fugger, I really hope we can find a cure, and soon. Too many good people and families destroyed by this disease.

Unfortunately, this probably means he'll be dead within the month. I hate cancer.

Its a shame for any person to fall onto bad health. Cancer sucks and hope he can fight it off and come back some day.

pancreatic cancer is one of the most lethal. For about 80% it's a death sentence within a year of diagnosis. 96% don't make it to year 5
Jobs has made it past 7 years, which is quite remarkable

I'm not a big Apple guy, to say the least, but I hope he manages to recover somehow. Its a tragedy when an icon like him is stricken with such a horrible disease.

"No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don't want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life's change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true.
Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."
-Steve Jobs, 2005

I would say, by his own definition, he has to be pretty happy with how his life has gone so far.

Jobs has been the heart and soul of Apple for a long time now, but I think they have good people in place who share his vision. I wish him well, and hopefully Apple will prosper with him gone (or in a diminished role at least).

Dammit, how does this affect the resale of the Macbook Air I bought yesterday?
This seriously sucks, Jobs is a true visionary, and probably the sole reason Apple is the monster it is today. I hope he pulls through.

A true visionary in the new generation. Say what you will about Apple's products, but he has brought Apple from obscurity to not only relevant but industry leading.
