Default Alexisonfire has broken up

As per their website: http://www.theonlybandever.com/

I was never a big fan of theirs. I could never get past the screaming guy.

I love the stuff that Dallas puts out with City and Colour. I guess we should expect to see more from him, there.

Oh well. They had a good run. I can't believe it was 10 years.

I liked the crisis album by Alexisonfire. But always thought City and Colour sucked. Dallas Green was better before he became a whiner. The songs all sound the same, acoustic guitar, soft whiney vocals, rinse and repeat. I don't like depressing music.

Hmmm... they forgot to thank the CRTC in their good-bye note.

I wouldn't call it depressing music, but I would agree with the rest. It sounds the same to me. Not sure why 'Comin Home' was such a big hit, I found it rather uninspiring, and just like so many other songs written before it. Drove me up a wall. By comparison I like Alexisonfire, they seemed to try something different.

The funny thing is I don't mind that soft style, I loved Dallas Green in The Grace by Neverending White Lights. I just can't get into City and Color, and don't know why people think it's such a treasure.

I don't like City and Colour either, but his more recent song, Fragile Birds is awesome!

Does this represent screamo music finally being dead? Good riddance.

I'm a huge fan of alexisonfire, loved George's screaming and the attack of guitars these guys had. Not a fan of City and Colour, so this really sucks in my opinion.

This is not emo music, nor screamo.

My buddy described it best to me "a symphony of noise". Sad day.

What is that?

Scr-emo?

I am a metal fan, albeit old school, and British stuff, but that was just awkward.

I'm surprised you don't like it, would be a good listen for your aggressive commute to work.

That's just their style. And it's unique. I love metal too, but I really like(d) these guys. Yeah the heavy vocals are laboured, but I dunno, it's just their sound.

Plus the song writing was really good, and they weren't shy on the instruments. Nothing emo about it, quite artistic IMO.

I'm not too bummed about this, as IMO they've steadily gotten worse each album.

Their self titled album was amazing, Watch Out! had some great songs and a lot of garbage, and then I largely lost interest. I personally preferred the screaming to Dallas Green's vocals. The only song which Green's vocals don't overdo it is No Transitory.

It was such a big hit because it mentions Canadian places and people go "I know of/am from/have heard of that place! Yay, Canada!" Canadians are generally excited when they are mentioned on the radio.

I really liked the sound of the band until the screaming/growling starts. Unfortunately, that is frequent. Would actually really like to hear what the band would sound like with no screaming/growling track in the mix. I'd look but I'm far too lazy to google.

10 years? Just wow.

I was a big fan of them in my early 20s while starting out in University, just when they first broke out. Their first two records were incredible unique at the time and such a change of pace from the plethora of 'Simple Plan/Blink 182/Yellow Card' clones which were everywhere. So for that I was so thankful.

I've always liked them and really appreciated them, but not as much as I once did. Their music was perfect for that time in my life, but it doesn't really age well into your early 30s.

That being said, Waterwings has to be one of my all time favourite music videos. I don't know if it's the low budget or the awesome homage to West Side Story/The Warriors, but the Butterscotch Boys and The East Side Splatter Punks kill me every time.

Sad to see them break up. It was a great run.

There you go. I love George's scream, but that is probably one of my favortie alexis songs.

Sad to hear they are breaking up. I love the first two albums. Crisis has a couple good songs and I didn't really like old crows/young cardinals that much. Pretty good live too. Seen them many times and hopefully they do one last tour in Canada.

Their music wasn't that bad, except for screaming guy. That was a schtick they didn't really need.
