And only days after I changed my avatar (which I actually meant to mock birthers and the whole unbelievable prevalence of the issue in the US), I'd like to congratulate myself on playing such a large role in this issue.
Bad move in my opinion, all this does is give the idiots a sense of power and entitlement, and won't settle anything after all Obama is the most powerful man in the world, he could easily have a document falsified, which is what many of the people who oppose Obama for other reasons but need something to hide their true feelings will say.
And listen to Trump's little speech. Between that and the amount of attention this issue has received, not just in the media, but in actual government operations, it is just stunning how unreal the political system down there is becoming.
It's like a reality TV show.

Isnt this what it is, a birth certificate? First the certificate of live birth was insufficient, now the long form birth certificate is insufficient? I feel ridiculous even being drawn into and reading up on this "debate".

Exactly, the version he produced long ago was the only copy legally meaningful. The original was archived and had no legal meaning anymore and was never given out anymore, but now he's produced that (and had to get special permission to do so). There are no other birth certificates to release.
Best term I've heard referring to Trump today: prancing moron.

This looks like what he has produced in the past, basically a document signed by current officials saying here is a copy of what we have on file. Its nothing new - I am even surprised States keep that detailed of records
I dont have any credible doubt he was born in the US, however I do think there is something on there that is likely a small issue that in politics can magnify into a larger issue.
The simple fact is he cannot produce what 99% of users of CP have somewhere in there posession, an actual birth certificate.
Now, (after reading his book) its very likely that given his obvious sketchy parents (cant blame him for it) that his mom probably lost it somewhere between Hawaii and the Phillipeans. If that is the case they why not just say my parents lost it, why all the BS.
A few years ago the Democratic Governor of Hawaii came out publically and said "he will get to the bottom of this" - a few months later he said due to privacy concerns the issue has been closed (seems a smidge odd).
The conspiracy theorist in me wonders if his birth year is fudged and that would mean he lied on his Harvard admission papers. It seems plausible given his world traveller life as a youngster, maybe he started school late or something like that and instead of being seen as a child who is a year older, instead his mom/grandparents at the time fudged his birth year
The whole thing seems odd, why would a Billionaire like Trump risk becoming a social joke (other than his hair) by bringing this up. One explanation is he is just trying to garner the fringe Tea Party support and Koch campaign money and support for a Presidential bid. The more likely issue is a man like Trump who has seedy friends from having to deal in the Real Estate buisness has found some sort of cat in the hat document that he is waiting until the right time to release.
Whatever you think of Trump, you have to enjoy his "straight talk" on fatty mc fatty.
Unless what they consider a birth certificate in the US is different than what is in Canada. I have mine in the second drawer in my cabinet - its what the hospital gave my parents and what they gave me.
