Default The new iPod Nano, any opinions?

I had my original shuffle for years until I lost it, then I decided I needed a new one right away because it just awesome for the gym.. so I bought the last generation which was long and slender ( ithink their only generation to look like this) and had the volume/song changer in the head phones. This was horrible because I could no longer hook it up to any ipod players or cars via an AV plug. Also, it cost $79 which is 20 bucks more than the current and past versions! So I felt very ripped off when the next gen goes back to the original format..

So that brings me to the nanos. For years the nanos have somewhat been very similar, at least in style and performance. Now they switch and upgrade it to this teeny tiny format with a touch screen (more crap to break imo). I am just curious if anyone has bought one and can speak for them and their performance?

I don't want to feel like I am ripped off again when the next gen goes back to the original format, with new features just like the shuffle..

I was pretty much the anti-apple user, I'd buy cheap mp3 players and just use them until my wife bought me my Nano for my birthday.

Sadly I love the thing.

I'm not sure what performance you want me to speak of, it plays music/podcasts and does it well.

There were a few cons when it first came out, namely the fact that you had to turn on the screen to switch a song (which is a pain in the ass when you're running) and that you could never really turn it off, more just put it to sleep where it would eventually turn off after a certain amount of dormant time.. this sucked out the battery power more than it should have.

But both of those issues were fixed in an update that came out a couple of months ago. Now you can now skip to the next song just by double clicking the power button, and holding down power actually turns it off now.

So really, I don't have much negative to say about it anymore.

I really didn't want to like it, but I do.

Wife really disliked running with the new nano. In general she found it really difficult to run with (had to look down while running, no more click wheel, difficult to switch songs). While running in the winter you need to remove your glove to change songs..

We went through a bunch of hassle to return the nano to walmart she was so disappointed with it and is back using her 2G nano.

Although it does sound like they've fixed the FFWD issue.

If you're gonna buy one, get it from walmart so you can take it back...

It took a bit of getting used to after having my other nano for two years, but I've learned to love it

Just give me something that charges on all my old cables/dockstations/etc.

Personally I think the new Nano is just way to...Nano. That thing is like carrying a mini-wheat around

I have one and I'm happy with it. I use it to hook up to my car stereo and when i go to work out. Advantages over my previous Nano (first gen) are the ability to get radio (I'm old fashioned) and the clip. The clip is very strong and will survive a workout, which means that you save $$$ over having to buy an accessory for portability.

I'm not a big take-a-picture-with-your-iDevice guy, so the loss of the camera was immaterial to me.
