Which phone should i get?
So my plan is done on my current phone, its a simple non-smart phone.
My contract is meh and looking at most smartphone data plans, ill be paying 10 bucks more for a much much better phone.
My brother and Mom have Iphones, i think the interface is neat and the apps are cool but im not a big fan of Apple, i think the hardware is stupid (no external battery) and most of the people that have iphones seem like sheep who just want to play Angry Birds.
I think i would use a light to moderate amount of data, checking hockey scores, doing some light emailing and browsing. Gaming is cool but not really a big part of things. Applications i think are pretty important as some of them are pretty useful.
Im not getting a blackberry (no desire to)
Im leaning towards Andriod over Windows 7 UI.
Opinions?

Well, depends. Are you looking to sign a new contract? If so, with you? Are you leaning one way?
What do you want your phone to be able to do? Depends on what your needs are.
If you want to go Android, don't want to sign a new contract, perhaps look at this site and buy an unlocked phone. Then you can go with whoever you want and are not stuck in some long term contract. Depends on the money you have as well I guess.

I pity the 180 million sheep on their Angry Birds devices. I wouldn't be caught dead using something so mainstream.
Keep it underground man, Android FTW.

I would sign a new contract, probably with Telus because that's who ive always been with, they have been pretty reliable, and their phone choices are broader than Rogers.
Ideally i want it to be able to send emails via Outlook, sync with my outlook. I wanna be able to browse, text... nothing crazy. Eventually it might be my work phone (most likely i would get a new one when i start full-time work)
Some games and cool apps would be nice, i just dont wanna be part of the Chic Iphone crowd.

Get yourself an HTC Desire HD then I would say if you want to go with Telus.

I'm pretty happy with my Samsung Galaxy, though they're known to be glitchy. It narrowly won out over an HTC Desire for me, I don't think you can go wrong with either choice. If you want a hard keyboard, go Desire. If you don't, I'd say Galaxy.

I would go for the HTC Incredible S. Will be launched on Bell and Virgin on April 4th.
Basically same internals as the HTC Desire HD, you get a slightly smaller screen (may be a better fit in the hand plus the screen is sharper with a smaller screen size and same resolution). The Incredible also has a front facing camera (if that is important to you) and the battery life is said to be one of the best for an android phone (which is big plus).
I would call your service provider and talk to the retentions department. You will get a much better plan than the ones available to the public, especially if you are willing to re-up for another 3 years.

In the past year I've had a Bold, Curve, Desire, Windows 7 LG, and Desire HD. Desire HD is by far the best one, followed closely by the Desire. Great phone. Wife has an iPhone and I am constantly telling her that my phone is cooler than her phone.
Yes, I work for the phone company.

I just upgraded from a BB Tour to a BB Torch and am loving the touch screen.
I am very happy with my phone, so far I haven't found one thing I do not like about it. I don't really have anything to compare it to besides the Tour (huge huge huge upgrade), but I can just tell you that it is a great phone.
One thing to take into consideration, would you use the BBM? Almost everyone I know and want to talk to on a daily to weekly basis has BBM. Stuff like picture/video msgs are free through it, and the chatting feels real time as opposed to text msgs. You can see as they type a reply which helps make it feel like a conversation.
With text msgs it always feels like an email to me... this was the selling feature on the BBM vs. iPhone argument.
Hope that helps.

BBM is coming to both iPhone and Android devices. As well, there are alternatives out there like LiveProfile that shows if a message has been read and if the user is typing a response.
Sending pictures and messages through BBM are not free as far as I know. It still uses data transfer and can add up if you don't have a good enough data plan.

Web Browsing and checking sports scores are awesome on an Iphone. Emailing anything longer then a couple sentences you need a keyboard or a Blackberry.
In terms of Apps nothing even touches apple right now.
I find android phones pretty cool, but inconsistent with battery life and after sales support (i.e updates etc)

Disagree. I can type paragraphs easily using Swype on my Captivate. No issues at all and do not miss the small keys on my Bold KB.

Disagree again. There are tons of apps for Android. I have loaded so many and still have so many to check out. There is nothing I haven't been able to find an app for and most of them are free.

I get 14+ hours with moderate usage all day on my captivate and just updated to 2.2 without issue.

Seriously, the only thing enticing about the Iphone for me is the app store. 3rd party support is huge for Apple, its one of the reasons i hate my current phone, no cool applications can be used on it.
