The Real 'Kick-Ass' - Average Dude Superhero
Sorry if this is a Fata, or, more likely, turns out to be totally fake because the similarities are so close that I have a hard time believing that its a coincidence.
Yes. This sounds like it came straight out of a movie, but Sky News insists that there is a real superhero crimefighter, fighting the good fight, in Seattle.
The news article reads like the kid's monologue from the movie. You cant even make this up.
Quote:
A real-life Superhero dressed in tights, a mask and a black and gold lycra suit, says he is helping to make the streets of Seattle safer by scaring away criminals.
The man, called Phoenix Jones, wears a bullet proof vest, and also has stab protection as well as being armed with a taser and tear gas. He says when he walks into an area, criminals leave because they see the suit and do not want to take him on.
He told CBS: "When I walk into a neighbourhood, criminals leave because they see the suit.
"I symbolise that the average person doesn't have to walk around and see bad things and do nothing."

This cannot end well for Phoenix Jones.
Just like the kid in 'Kick Ass', I'm surprised this isn't attempted more. People want to be in the spotlight more than they want to serve up justice I think.

/\/\ Exactly right.
This should do nothing but paint a large target on his back. I like his intentions, just don't think it will end well either.

Only a matter of time . . .

Oh, this will certainly not end well. It just cant.
Scaring idiots who are breaking into cars in parking lots or stopping the loser who stole Grandma's purse is one thing. Dealing with hardened criminals is another thing entirely.
There are people out there who will kill this guy for no better reason than they have nothing else better to do today.

I bet it won't be hardened criminals but rather spooked small timers who get caught in the act, that end up doing him in. Hardened criminals are more cerebral (they know how to get away with things and that doesn't involve brazenly slaughtering some numbnuts in tights) whereas small timers get spooked and are prone to doing something stupid like shoot and/or stab this guy on reflex alone.
It's the main reason why safety professionals advocate avoiding confrontations with people who break into your home. The intruders adrenaline pumps and they are capable of anything.

I heard the audio of this clip on Howard Stern yesterday and ha a good laugh when the guy introduced himself as "Phoenix Jones". I don't know why, but that just seemed hilarious to me. (I immediately changed my bbm to reflect my adoption of the Phoenix moniker as well...)

Update: Buddy got hurt. Surprise! Not too badly though.
Quote:
Phoenix Jones, who dons a mask and costumed body armour to thwart criminals and keep his US city safe, has suffered a broken nose while trying to break up a fight.
Speaking to a television station, Jones explained how after witnessing the scuffle he called police and put one of the men in a headlock.
The other man then pulled out a gun, forcing Jones to release the man he was holding. That man then kicked him in the face and broke his nose.

Next step is to turn an angry orphan into a sidekick.

The last thing that I would want to be is a side kick
Robin - Wore a one piece leotard with nylons and stripper booties, Batman liked to watch him slide down a fire pole.
Bucky - Was Captain America's side kick, wore a ridiculous looking costume that looked like a butlers outfit, tight pants and a cold and flu mask
Gabrielle - Side kick to Xena, come on we know her primary job was to keep Xena warm at night
I could go on, but sidekicks have only two jobs. Mess up and get captured, and to be there when their errr masters need them.
