The top line not producing goes back to the All-Star break though. That 7 game winning streak was mostly on Calgary's depth - which was great, but Johnny and Mony had 3 goals combined in February.

I don't care how injured James Neal is, you dress him and sit him on the bench all game and not send him out for a single shift!

1st line needs The Swagger™ back!

If Monahan is injured, wouldn't that be some sort of record for mysterious injuries that don't sideline a player.

Usually, not always, but usually there is a hit or a play where you think "uh oh."

Wasting the prime of a promising core and Mark Giordano trying so desperately to force Sean Monahan hockeydb success. It's pretty sad. I almost wish we'd just never drafted him at all. We'd probably have butterfly effected ourselves into McDavid or Eichel. He's not really a good fit anywhere down your lineup due to his atrocious defensive game for a center. Maybe as a soft sniping left winger in the Jeff Carter mold. Our 1C can't skate and handle the puck at the same time. I expect nothing from this team as long as this fact remains true.

Who on the team replaces Monahan? Maybe Lindholm? Bennett can't do it and neither can Jankowski.

I wouldn't be opposed to flipping Monahan to RW.

Gaudreau - Lindholm - Monahan

It’s awesome to see WhereAreUChrisO’Sullivan live on in spirit just focused on another player. This is the worst Monahan take I’ve ever seen. You wish we’d never drafted him at all? Derp ok.

It seems that Gaudreau and Monahan rarely ever get split up. I wouldn't mind seeing these lines for one game:

Gaudreau-Jankowski-Lindholm
Tkachuk-Ryan-Hathaway
Mangiapane-Monahan-Bennett
Czarnik-Backlund-Frolik

Yeah edited for clairity. Nobody can but I'm thinking more in the hopeful sense that the butterfly effect blossomed into us drafting a real franchise center.

it would be nice if there was an offensive option at C that you could shift Gaudreau to.

Backlund isn't that player.

Hayes or Duchene would've been.

I think the swing and the miss on Bennett hurt more but would have to go Nylander or all the way down to Larkin to get an impact player.

Yeah, too bad we were second in on everyone.

Certainly would be nice but there are creative options. Shift Lindholm to the middle and have Gaudreau-Lindholm as a pair. No idea what the RW on that line would be, you'd want the second line to be Tkachuk-Monahan. The other option is Gaudreau-Backlund-Lindholm. Patrick Kane plays with Anisimov 5on5, the big points will come on the power play. The OP's options are a little too out there for me but pulling back a little there is something.

Tkachuk - Monahan - Bennett
Gaudreau - Backlund - Lindholm
Frolik - Jankowski - Czarnik
Mangiapane - Ryan - Hathaway

Team could use another speedy, skilled scorer in the top six. Like a Jason Zucker.

Still mad at the Wild for screwing that up.

Out of all our wingers the two who may have the least amount of chemistry with monahan are Tkachuk and Bennett.

This line would not work at all, they all want to be hanging out in the slot, and the footspeed between Mony and Tkachuk always makes them tough to trust together.

Knowing the terms of the Zucker deal i'm glad we didn't do it.

Only way I'd have been happy with it is if Neal had gone the other way
