I'm not sure what you mean... like chalk grey? A lot of higher end manufacturers have been doing flatter neutral tones for their paint for the past few years, I suspect that it's just filtering down to the non-premium brands as usual and doesn't look as good on a Rav4 as it does on a 911.

Flat grey:
I think it’s a sharp looking colour though. At least somewhat different than the painfully boring black/silver/gunmetal standards you see on virtually every stupid vehicle.

It's surprising how long it can take for the trendy colours to filter down - Lamborghini had a flat grey on the 2008 LP640, Bentley had one on the 2011 Super Sport and Porsche used Geyser and Graphite Grey on the 50th Anniversary 911 in 2014.
15 years is a long time, so it's no wonder these colours have lost some of their lustre (ha-ha).

I think 'chalk grey' is akin to 'Nardo Grey' or 'China Grey'.
China Grey:
Nardo Grey:
Both look fantastic on the right car. On a RAV4 I can see it being an entirely underwhelming colour choice.
Edit: Actually seeing the picture that PepsiFree posted, I guess that doesn't look too bad at all. I keep remembering the older RAV4 designs which were all yawn-inducing.

I used to like those greys when they were more exclusive. Now that economy cars and CUV's are using variations of the color it's not a color I would select on an expensive car unless you want to blend in and make your fancy vehicle more anonymous.

It's funny/sad that the antidote to "too many silver/grey/black cars" is another shade of grey.

It's ok...it's not a color I'd PICK for a vehicle new, but I wouldn't rule it out used.

The grey isn't what makes that Rav4 look lame, it's the bunk two tone approach that ruins it.

I think the two-tone looks fine on the Rav4. It's a bit fun.
I also like the creamy grey colour on cars. I thought I'd be tired of it by now, but even though it's been popular on mainstream cars for the past few years it still looks nice to me. Especially with black trim/wheels.
As long as we don't go back to that teal colour from the mid-90s we're in good shape.

That looks fine, I think it ends up looking worse on larger vehicles. Just a vast expanse of sameness that swallows your eyes. They look more bland in person. Is there anything more bland than this light gray?

Throw a lil black Canadian flag somewhere and you have the bro-mobile of choice for dudes who crush dirt parking lots.

Like your opinions on dogs; wrong. Two tone is rarely done right, and belongs on cars like the 1980 Buick Skylark, which was my first vehicle in the 90s.

I just saw a Tesla Model 3 wrapped in the exact teal color you're talking about. 40-50 yr old behind the wheel, so that checks out.
All I could think about was a 98 Civic Coupe LX that the cool kids had.

Wow, that's crazy - bold choice. Love how you had to throw in the LX trim of your hypothetical Civic just to twist the knife a little haha.
