Calgarypuck Prospect Ranking 2023 - Round 30
Welcome to the annual Calgarypuck Prospect Poll!
As per usual ...
1. Rank the prospects as you like. Upside, chances, or trade value
2. I will try and do one a day which should get us to rookie camp range
3. Graduates and/or runoffs will be determined in each case
4. Please don't complain that the polls are going to deep. We go until all the prospects are ranked, so don't vote if you don't want to.

Pretty academic with the departing prospect but may as well let it roll to conclusion.
That's the last round for 2023.
Thanks everyone for contributing!

I'm tryna squeeze a little more fun out of this.
Let's play a game called too high, too low. Pick one player you think is ranked too high and another you think is ranked too low.
To High: Zary, I just don't think he has got the stuff to be an every day NHLer. I don't think he goes as high if he was not drafted in the first round. I know folks spoke highly of his camp last year, but nothing else really pops off the page for me.
Too Low. Ronni, I think there is a good argument for putting him in the top 10. He is still young at 19. There is always room for depth players who can work a PK.

I've seen Koumontzis mentioned a few times in the last few days on hockey related Instagram posts, so I'm going Demetrios

Koumontzis is at least playing pro, albeit the ECHL. He also transitioned to defence.

Need to punt the scout(s) that went to bat for Koumontzis and boltmann. Went way too high and looks like they won’t amount to anything.

I'm voting in this round, but I don't like it.
Too high: Stromgren, but only by a couple of spots.
Too low: Solovyov, but again, only by a couple of spots.

You don’t punt scouts for missing on a couple mid round picks

Most players taken where they were won't amount to anything.
You can't tell your people to swing for the fences then fire them when their long-shots don't hit.
It's hard to argue that Boltmann was a swing for the fences pick just because he doesn't have flashy stats, but he does seem to be a solid defensive d-man. During his freshman year, Koumontzis looked like he was a decent pick for a 4th rounder, but ASU was never really able to repeat the success they had that first year and his game didn't progress beyond it either.

the way I see it out if the top ten i expect seven to be regulars. Poirier, morin and kuz probably have the most question marks. From ten to twenty i see probably three maybe four or that make an impact. Ronni, klapka, bell, ciona all have skills to that can translate. Between 20 and 30 i expect maybe one surprise. Considering how many picks we have given away the fact we could have upward if ten nhlers in the group is solid.

We can always talk about why and how much we hate the Oilers. That well will never run dry.
