I keep seeing this stat. Don’t we just have to beat out Seattle? Seattle has come back to earth. Them playing near .500 hockey for rest of season is not impossible. Not saying flames will catch them considering they are pretty much playing .500 hockey as well. I’m just not convinced that they need to go 15-5 to finish season

How many teams have traded blue chip prospects this year? I have my doubts that teams are giving them up this trade deadline.

Doesn't matter you cant bank on them being consistent enough to add or not subtract.

Who knows you move out some boat anchors or unhappy players bring in some fresh blood and they could still be competitive.

Days like this are why I take the TDL off from work. Zero attention being paid here.

Sure but that doesn’t answer the question on why they have to go 15-5-2

if they can get him signed, then that's a great gamble. If not ... but I would imagine they wouldn't burn a 3rd if they hadn't got some encouragement from his camp.

I've fallen prey to only reading the Reddit title, and not the actual article

I just remembered that Sutter is our coach. Hard to see us selling with him on the bench.

He's the coach, he will coach the players that he has been given - would be he be frustrated sure? but he can always take his Ram 3500 and head back to the farm, retire and call it a day.

If true, the Preds are truly packing it in and selling. I don’t see Askarov being ready yet, and Campbell sucks.
I wasn't laughing at them acquiring Saros. I was laughing at the ridiculousness of their trade proposal.

I think the projected pt total needed is 96 pts atm, with teams like Nashville and Calgary still actively around the bubble and teams like Seattle and Edmonton going through struggle and staying just ahead I can see Kyuss reasoning as to why a 15-5-2 record is needed. That’s 32 points which would put Calgary at 98, I feel like the 8 spot could sneak in at 93 to 95 points this year which would bring the needed record to 13-7-2 which seems doable. That said I don’t think this team gets past a Vegas or a Colorado in the first round this year and I really think they need to be considering ‘bigger picture’ considering the 7 and 8 year contracts they just handed out. This team won’t be able to afford to keep all of the high end expiring ufas at end of 2024 in Hanifin, Lindholm, Toffoli, Tanev and Zadorov so they should be looking at turning at least a couple of those guys into futures. It makes too much sense for it to happen though based on how Calgary has operated at the trade deadline with their current position.

I do wonder if Flames did decide to sell (doubtful) , if Sutter would have influence on who they could trade . I just don’t see any possible way Sutter would let Tanev go if he had any say. Probably goes for lindholm also.

Seattle playing .500 hockey would finish with ~93 points

Flames would need 28 points in final 22 games

Or 13-7-2 or something like that

Could be that this doesn't matter.... Tre is the GM and could be out after this season. Maybe he doesn't GAF about what Sutter thinks about rebuilds.

13-7-2 seems totally unachievable to me as well. Unless we're calling wolf up today.

I mean, Darry's been sort of a prick this year (more than usual). If he's a little frustrated we'll just consider it payback
