He stopped saying "like" three times in every sentence now. Sounds like a great guy.

I feel like he sounded exactly like Baertschi in his fan960 interview.

The more I read, the more I like this pick. A lot of upside with this player IMO.

"He was dead last in the Wingate mean-power test and second-last overall in the VO2 testing, ahead of only Charlottetown’s Kameron Kielly."

So basically Gary Roberts level of fitness in his first NHL camp. He can be taught to train and apparently skates and plays quite well even being in less than top condition. They key is how many chin ups did he do?

Its been noted he has training issues. Not a hard issue to sort out if he's willing. He'll get a summer program just like the rest of them and show some results.

yeah Treliving also mentioned conditioning issues in his interview today. I'm not too worried about this, that's a part of the game that can be corrected. Ryan van Asten will whip him into shape

Not worried at all, Van Asten will whip him into shape. You can't teach skill but you can build your body. He's got the frame.

Yeah, anyone with the Flames, and the player himself mentioned fitness issues. Tod Button in his interview with the Fan960 said Rasmus know it's what he has to work on. Fitness issues is never fun to deal with but if the guy recognizes the problem and will work on it, then good.

Freakin point per game Dman as an 18 year old in the OHL and he wasn't even in very good shape?

Wait til he gets in shape then, he's gonna be a gooder.

Any player drafted at 53rd is going to have issues. Fitness is the most fixable.

I remember Treliving talking last year (?) about conditioning of junior players. If you have a guy who is close to maxing out his physical ability before they hit the NHL, their upside is obviously more limited. On the other hand, if you have a guy who hasn't physically matured yet and isn't known to be a gym rat -- but can still play -- that's the guy you want because you know he still has lots of room to improve.

Also the culture the Flames have should help too. Hartley mentioned that when young players come in he tells them to glue themselves to Gios hip and do exactly what he does including going to the gym and doing the same workout that Gio is. Sometimes once kids get around professionals the light goes on

Yeah, the risk is Andersson committing to the Culture in CGY. I'll tell you what, once he gets to CGY for prospect camp and main camp, he'll get it.

I see this as a good thing, a lot of room for improvement.

Yup good pick.

Not that it means as much for d-men but his NHL equivalency is one of the highest of the last few years for d-men drafted from the CHL.

Great point production for his draft year and if fitness really is an issue then lots of room to improve there too.
