Any word on their jersey number selections will be? Lindholm is listed as 28 on the Flames website. I wonder if Hanifin will go 55 like he did with team USA.
Hanifin wore 3 in college - I'm hoping we can finally have a #3 on the team that isn't awful. That number has adorned some dreck since Phaneuf left.
Someone posted an AC style highlight video of 2017/18 Lindholm.
This makes me excited just from watching Lindholm carry the puck into the zone on powerplays. We really didn't have any forwards to do that aside from Gaudreau or Versteeg when he was healthy.
I wanted to listen to the Dellow clip, but SN960 has it mislabelled on their website.
Without actually hearing it myself it is difficult to comment, but this bolded part is nonsense. There is no real evidence that Treliving prioritizes "character" any more than most other NHL GMs, and the idea that Hamilton was traded because he likes to visit museums was debunked the day after the trade. With all the talk after the trade, it seems most likely that Hamilton was moved as a response to the issues Treliving identified in his season ending PC with the team's compete-level and urgency. It also seems probable that Hamilton was not interested in staying with the Flames. Dellow's attempt to connect these items to an "obsession with character" on the Flames's part is little better than tabloid journalism.
This was a hockey trade made to improve the hockey team.
*EDIT* I just saw your response here:
I don't at all disagree with Dellow, but I do think it is ridiculous to suggest that Treliving is foregoing skill in some misguided pursuit of character. No one will argue how poorly the Brouwer acquisition has turned out, but Hamonic was not acquired because of his great character; he was brought in because he is a solid top-four defenseman on a value contract. Both the players for whom Hamilton and Ferland were traded are highly skilled, young players, and THAT was why they cost so much to obtain.
If you have a can find the clip give it a listen. The character thing was brought up by Pinder who sounds like he's not a fan of the GM or his moves.

Given the choice, my faith will ALWAYS be with Tre and the process behind his moves, as opposed to Pinder and his "insight" on moves Tre should or has made...

That makes sense, thanks. Pinder is not at all a fan of this trade so I am entirely unsurprised that he would grasp at straws like "character" as the reason it was made.

It's been said a lot, but I really have my doubts on this having much to do with character. To me this trade was all asset management and team control. The Flames don't have the ability to attract high end UFAs, so the best course of action is to move pieces at their peak value for pieces that potentially outperform over the long term. If they keep doing these trades and they work out, they win. But if the potential doesn't pan out they will end up like the Coyotes, all promise and no results.

No doubt. If the narrative was that he was traded because he was a prick then that tweet would be appropriate but no one involved has ever suggested or hinted that was the issue.

Even the media types like Loubo who have been hinting about issues for a while don't deny that he is a fantastically nice person
Yup - the guy seemed to be a nice guy away from the rink and would always be present at charity events, etc.
I personally don't think it was really off ice "character" issues for the reason that Dougie was moved... I still think it was a lack of trust in the "on-ice" capabilities of the players.
As elite of a pairing as Giordano-Hamilton were this organization still didn't like his defensive zone play, didn't trust him away from Gio, and wouldn't put him as the 1D on the PP or 3v3.
That is what I think was frustrating Dougie and in the end I think he may have not demanded a trade but said that he would prefer / be open to one.
I personally just think it was time for the this leadership group and Dougie to split - the on ice style of play just never fit with what this GM and coaching staff(s) wanted.
