Yeah, I have Crosby and MacKinnon ahead of McDavid as well.
McDavid might be the best offensive player, but overall I still take one of the Cole Harbour boys
It's kind of mind blowing that a town of 92K produced two of these guys in the same generation. That'd be almost like if Airdrie produced two generational hockey players within 10 years of each other.

What I meant by that statement was the Ovi did his business without complaining, and Sid was known widely as a whiner.
Like I said, he shaped up quickly and is in the GOAT conversation. Ovi is "merely" the GOAT in goals.
Getting the most tv time in Canada will do that to ya.
Kids under 22 piss and moan at refs more than any other being. Case closed.
My favourite ref complaining quote of Crosby’s was in one of the 24/7s, but I’ve never been able to find the clip since. The exact details have slowly leaked from my brain, so I’m going to butcher it, but it highlighted just how much hockey flows through him. He lives it.
“Ref, why wasn’t that called x”...... “well I’ve watched (some ridiculous number) of games this season and that’s called x every single time”.

Man, he can still skate like the wind too. That's a great sequence.
Hands stick off on penalty box side, crosses play to bench, crosses back to penalty box side to score. And at no point were there 2 flyers in front of him. Monster.
Are you suggesting you aren't allowed to have a stick handed to you from the bench?
Yes. You are allowed.
It cannot be thrown, but it can be handed.
I'm not suggesting anything, I just vaguely recall in one of his earlier seasons that he scored a very similar goal that was overturned because he got handed a stick from the bench.
The rules may well have changed in the meantime or the circumstances are different, I just remember that because I recall thinking that was a stupid, stupid rule.
If the equipment guys are on the ball and can pass a player a new stick while he flies by the bench at full speed then IMO that should be allowed.

NHL Rule 10.3
10.3 Broken Stick - Player - A broken stick is one which, in the opinion of the Referee, is unfit for normal play.
A player without a stick may participate in the game. A player whose stick is broken may participate in the game provided he drops the broken stick. A minor penalty shall be imposed for an infraction of this rule.
A player who has lost or broken his stick may only receive a stick at his own players' bench or be handed one from a teammate on the ice. A player may not participate in the play using a goalkeeper's stick. A minor penalty shall be imposed for an infraction of this rule.
A player tendered a stick thrown on the ice from the players' or penalty bench will not receive a penalty. However, the person responsible for throwing the stick will receive a bench minor penalty.
What makes Crosby stand out from his elite peers is he might be one of the best grinders in the league too. He forechecks hard, cycles the puck as well as anyone, and fights for loose pucks like a dog on a bone.
If Crosby were a 30 point a year guy he would still be an incredibly effective player and tremendous asset to his team. I don’t think you can say the same about McDavid, Draisatl, McKinnon, Kane, or Ovechkin.

Yup. He is a 4th liner with HOF skill - great in every situation that players will find themselves in.

Ovechkin will at least railroad guys on an ongoing basis.
