Seven wingers linked to the Flames.
https://thehockeywriters.com/flames-...rade-deadline/
Pretty much all the ones already mentioned (Tarasenko, JVR, Bertuzzi, Barbashev, Duclair, Domi, plus Nick Ritchie).
Is Barbashev actually a winger? I don't pay that much attention to the Blues lines, but I see him listed as a center. If he does indeed play wing, that moves him up on my wish list if the Flames are indeed planning to be buyers.

Production wise Barbashev is smack dab in between Mangi and Coleman for scoring.
He's a rental though. I like him bit he is just more of the same of what the Flames already have.
We need a Burakovsky type trade.

Are any of these an upgrade on what we have or we just piling on more of the same?
A Barbashev pushing down Dube won't accomplish much.

At this point it would be replacing Pelletier likely.
Dube-Lindholm-Toffoli have been good together and not sure anybody needs pushing down.

I don't see the point in spending assets on a team that is 50/50 to make the playoffs.

Duclair/Domi please!
Duclair could help unlock huberdeau. That's extra value

I think Treliving can't do much this season as we don't have a cap space. In my calculation even we play Pelletier, Klapka, Ruzicka, Duehr and Phillips and don't sign any FA, we still be will over the cap next season.
So I think we should think about next season and as we may have more chance to win.
All bad teams will be bad next year and some of the average teams like Blues, Preds, LA will be weaker. And some strong team may change a course too.
So I hope Treliving can fix our D core this season with some cap management and load Forwards for the 2024 playoffs.

I don't disagree... but our ownership group would like the $3M per home playoff game for getting into the playoffs I'm sure.
And the GM doesn't have a contract after this season, so not sure he's that worried about future picks either.

Would be nice if we can make our D like:
Hanifin 4950 Andersson 4550
Chychrun 4500 Tanev 3750
Zadorov 3750 Weagar 6250
Weegar is so expensive.
Or even better if it is:
Hanifin 4950 Andersson 4550
Chychrun 4500 Tanev 3750
Zadorov 3750 Noah Dobson type younger player 4000
Kylington 2500

And we have no picks or prospects for the next 4 years because we just traded 4 1st round picks for Chychrun and Dobson.

Hanifin, Andersson, Chychrun's next contract will be way more than Weegar

I’m not convinced that it’s a slam dunk.
Duclair would have to adjust to playing in the Sutter system, no guarantee of instant chemistry in a different environment.

We need a Burakovsky type trade.
|
Honestly the closest thing available to Burakovsky at the time of his trade would be Puljujarvi.
Burakovsky: 24 years old, 328 GP, 63 G, 145 PTS, 0.44 PPG, 12.8% S%
Puljujarvi: 24 years old, 308 GP, 50 G, 108 PTS, 0.35 PPG, 8.7% S%
I wouldn't mind a flyer on Puljujarvi at all - but my concern is I don't think he has a great shot and really the Flames are lacking that. We need more finish not less.

I am hoping we wait one more year before pushing any chips in. Get past this draft, get more clarity on prospects and about how/where they fit in and to get a sense of the roster as a whole after a full season of acclimation. Could change my mind if the Flames sweep February but otherwise, just chill Winston.

Well this post hit a little too on the nose for what I was about post for Flames trade predictions.
I was gonna call Puljujarvi and Chychrun coming in.

Depth defender and sign Coronato when his season is done. That’s all I’d like to see.
We need our shooting percentage to go up and our save percentage to go down. Can’t really solve those issues trading.
