I was watching the news a few weeks ago talking about how there are some organizations out there trying to remove the sigma of abandoning a baby at a safe location like a hospital. They have a "safe drop" area, where you can walk up to an exterior wall, open a compartment and leave the baby inside. A light then goes off inside the hospital showing there is a baby there and the staff come and get it.
Hopefully things like this gain more traction. I'll stay out of the debate on if you should abandon your child or not as that is a different discussion. But giving parents a safe option for the child seems pretty important given the alternatives we see right now.
A film my cousin did the cinematography on about an anonymous baby drop off like a milk chute in South Korea.
So this popped up in "What's new at Costco this week"
My wife and I were at the outdoor Outlet Mall in downtown Vegas about six years ago, and there was a guy there with his cat inside a stroller. I'd say it was this one here actually - http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...4&pcatid=27954

They used to have that feature at Monasteries and Buddist Temples back in the day where you would have a sliding door that you would open and put your baby in and then walk away.

It'd be nice if the judges on the appeal basically said, the trial judges took it easy on you, and now here you are . . . 10 years at hard labor with a side order of force sodomy . . . how do you like them apples.
But knowing how the system works he'll win.

Is your issue with lack of mandatory minimum sentences for sexual assault or the fact that what he did didn’t constitute rape under California law?
I think my one the issues is that Judge Persky seemed more worried about the potential ramifications the judgment would have on Turner and his future rather than the impact of the crime on the victim. There's definitely a lot of very unfortunate loopholes in the legal system, and it's made it so that sexual assault cases are often jokes because it's often a "he said, she said" situation, and quite of the few of the he said's have more assets at the ready.
I just thought it was a joke that this kid, who got chased down by two eye witnesses got a very light sentence for causing a considerable amount of anguish...I'd say the majority of people would consider his sentence quite light. Now he wants it appealed? I think that's my main issue.

This wasn't a rival drug gang thing. Some journalist doing his job writes a story about the drug trade, and so some bastards burst into his son's school during a Christmas pageant and put a bullet in his brain. Earlier in the year another Mexican reporter was shot dead while she was driving her son to school.
The cold-blooded ruthlessness of it is horrifying.

Apparently there are two churches/organizations in Edmonton that have baby boxes. Global news did a short bit on the drop offs a couple weeks ago when the baby was found in Bowness.
Makes me sick, thank goodness for a smart babysitter. That girl is a hero
This is all over my facebook right now, hadn't heard about it previously. Pretty disgusting. The depths of human depravity can still astonish me sometimes.
