He is a good player to take a chance on, would like the Flames to take a run. Rhs center, or rw. we need both!

Marchessault was considered a pretty good player but due a big raise which Florida was reluctant to pay. Reilly Smith looked more like a cap dump to most. Theodore was a good prospect for sure.
These players were not universally though of star players. Vegas did a spectacular job of identifying players who they thought could be modded into a cohesive team and, if given the opportunity,could improve.

I agree 100%
That’s the point. I think it’s flat out wrong to say that Vegas doesn’t have stars and is just built on depth. Since their inception they have had anywhere between 3-6 guys playing at a star level caliber. They are stacked.

So the KHL it is.

That'd be the biggest D bag move. Win ROTY and just blip yourself out of existence and a Minnesota wild jersey.

twitter link doesn't work...what's the story?
Is he going since he is 45 (because him being a rookie is a joke)

I imagine his objection is his 3 years playing for Moscow in the KHL. Like some didn’t like Stone’s 2 years in the NHL plus 23 NHL games before his rookie season.

Makarov was 31 when he won the Calder. The rule was shortly changed so you need to be 25 or younger.

Since he has limited leverage, it seems like a sensible tactic for Kaprizov

What is a 10.2(c) player?
A player becomes a free agent when their contract expires on July 1 after the last League Year of their contract. A player who does not meet the UFA requirements or the Group 2 RFA requirements displayed in the table above, and has been issued a qualifying offer, is designated a 10.2(c) player. The player is only eligible to negotiate and sign a contract with the club that holds their signing rights. They are ineligible to negotiate a contract (offer sheet) with any other club. They are also ineligible for arbitration. If the player does not receive a qualifying offer by June 25th at 5:00pm ET, they immediately become a UFA.

Didn't Sam Reinhart grow up a Flames fan, or was that his brother (Max)?

Yep, before the draft Sam Reinhart said the Flames were his favorite team.

Is the KHL really that distinct from the other Euro leagues, or even the AHL?

Skill wise I would say no. Pay wise, definitely yes.

I just don't see the appeal of Reinhart. His skating is not great so unless Monahan is going the other way, I'm not interested in adding another top 6 forward who doesn't move well.
The family also has a rocky relationship with the organization. I'm not sure the Flames get a hometown discount on a long term contract. He wants to play in Vancouver, his hometown. The report is he wants to go to the "Westcoast", Calgary is not "Westcoast".
I'd only acquire Reinhart if I were to flip him for JT Miller, who I think is a much better player, faster, stronger, grittier. Also buds with Gaudreau from their WJC Gold medal win together as linemates. There's less control on his contract so I'd expect a bit more from Vancouver.
If you could flip Monahan (plus or not?) for Reinhart and then flip Reinhart for Miller (plus or not?), I think that might make sense for all teams involved.
Buffalo apparently has some interest in Monahan;
Reinhart and Vancouver have mutual interest;
Miller apparently isn't happy in Vancouver and the Flames get a bit faster and grittier in the top 6.
I think a top 6 of Gaudreau, Lindholm, Tkachuk, Miller, Mangiapane is a competitive group. Miller can play some centre and did with Gaudreau at the WJC, that gives you two good lines with speed and skill and enough grit.
Gaudreau-Miller-Dube
Tkachuk-Lindholm-Mangiapane
Maybe try and acquire a legitimate top 6 RW and push Dube down to the third line with Lucic and Backlund.

He wasn’t happy that Canucks management let so many good players leave last off season. He had every right to be miffed. They let a lot of quality players leave for nothing.
