Anyone want to bet Ryan Knight gets death threats over his tweet? Didn't think so. That country is so fricked up, and I worry about my US friends.

America as a country is simply an incurable disease to humanity. I don't know how to put it anymore.

"Shocked" said no one ever...

the NRA and gun supporters will continue to trumpet that guns aren't the issue, and yet the US is the only nation that this happens consistently year over year over year...

the hits just keep on coming...

We're not that much better. We just don't have guns. We have the same scum bag racists the US has. And they're coming out of the wood work...literally...

Video of a confrontation between a woman and a group of people is going viral, after she was apparently told to “go back to your own country”. Victoria, who doesn’t want to give her last name because she is worried about potential repercussions, says she was in a line up at Banff National Park today when a man cut to the front.
She told the man what he did was rude because the line was long and families were waiting patiently.
Tensions rose when she saw him on a trail shortly after this confrontation.
“That’s when he goes ‘Go back to your own country.’ As soon as he said that I took out my phone and was like ‘Did you just tell me to go back to my own country?'”

Default Ongoing US Mass Shooting Thread 2

It’s so refreshing to come to this thread (heck, CP in general) after some wonky crap like this happens down here.

I often post on another forum based in the US. One of the posters there posted “ here we go, more thoughts and prayers” or something like that after the Texas incident.

He was piled on for making a joke out if a serious issue, how dare he , etc.

Jeesh! The poster is disgusted, and throwing up his hands in despair. What else is he supposed to say. There was no other way to read the post, IMO.

But down here there is a certain all-too-prevalent mindset. The more I go on in life the more I realize I’ve given people too much credit in the brains department.

Do you have an epidemic of leaving your kids in the car like we do? Oh the excuses for that one, even from the psychological community.

I don’t get it.

Are you sure the nasty guy in the video was Canadian?

2 mass shootings in less than 24 hours. This has to be some kind of record.

i feel sorry for the many Americans who do want some gun control... the NRA's argument is that the pandora's box is open, but there's no reason to ban the AR-15. None.

its really sad - there's so much anger (it seems like from here) in the states... you see it in the political rallies that Trump has... guns are the gasoline on the fire.

There are plenty of nasty Canadians, sadly, who share similar extremist views or have anger management issues...don't kid yourself.

the big difference is that guns are much more difficult to access in canada...The vast majority of Canadians don't want more access to guns.

I'm really getting annoyed with the "the only way stop a bad guy with a gun, is a good guy with a gun" argument.

I know it has happened. But it's a statistical anomaly when it does.

In the last 16 hours, the shooters were both stopped by police.

Note: the police aren't the "good guy with a gun" they are the police. They would have a gun anyway. The good guy with a gun is the average citizen.

Enact reasonable gun control and the cost of guns that are used in mass shootings increases. To the point the mentally unstable can't afford them.

Now you're left with the domestic terrorists. Having a database of guns would help the FBI, ATF, etc investigate and keep ahead of terrorist groups.

re there stats on how many mass shootings were stopped by the average joe who had a gun?

The crazy thing is that the guy in Ohio killed 9 people and injured another 20+ in less than a minute. Even if it was an average citizen who stopped him, a massive amount of damage was already done.
At this point, it seems like it would be a huge victory to even limit the number of shots magazines/clips can have.

No other countries have video games, apparently.

Well clearly the video game industry needs to start spending more money on lobbying and greasing the wheels.

My brother once commented while on a visit, "The only problem with America is Americans. It is a beautiful piece of land inhabited by some of the most backward thinking people on the planet." I have trouble finding a flaw in his statements.

No other country requires an “ongoing” thread.

And even if it wasn’t a “US” thread, 9/10 is way too low. 99/100 is more accurate.

I wonder how many people actually pray when they say thoughts and prayers.

Like one in ten maybe?

a friend of mine moved the family to Houston due to a job transfer. i am sure it is a big adjustment anyways and i am sure this just adds to their stress. the fact that this happens so much with never any changes and politicians blaming each other instead of doing something is absurd. hope it changes in my lifetime but unlikely.

Flags at half mast are right up there with thoughts and prayers for complete uselessness in situations like these. Might as well keep them at half mast full time now since the next mass shooting will be any day.
