A&W isn't anywhere near as identifiable in the States as it is in Canada. Up here it's on the same level as McDonalds and Wendy's as a top fast food chain.

But in the U.S., at least, people have become far more polarized politically and socially.

In the 1960s and 70s, something like two-thirds of married couples came from the same political party (as Iyengar points out, even if marriages were totally random, 50 percent would be between people with similar political affiliations). Today, that number is closer to 90 percent.
A 1960 survey found that around 5 percent of partisans would mind if their sons or daughters married someone of a different political party. “They really dismissed the question as irrelevant,” said Iyengar, who has dug into more detailed reports from the 1960 study. A 2010 YouGov poll asking the same question found that 49 percent of Republicans and 33 percent of Democrats would be somewhat or very upset if their child married someone from the other political party.

Things aren't as bad yet in Canada. But civility has definitely declined in our political discourse. As GGG pointed out, we increasingly regarded all political issues as moral struggles, and regard people who oppose our politics as malicious or morally unsound.

A&W restaurants are few and far between in the US. There 850 in Canada, second only to McDonald's and their 1,400 stores. In the US there are only 1,200 locations, compared to the 14,146 McDonald's. So by scales of magnitudes, there should be about 8,500 A&W restaurants to be equal to Canaidian operations. A&W in the States barely makes a blip on the fast food radar , averaging only 24 stores per state. There are more A&W restaurants in Vancouver (31) than there are in the state of Washington (29). Hell, there are more in Kelowna (6) than there are in the state of Arizona (5). A&W is more of a Canadian thing than an American thing.

Which is annoying, because A&W is crap aside from the root beer. Rather wish we had more Burger Kings and less A&Ws.

If we're going to go that route though, we should also acknowledge that the NDP in both provinces and federally has generally shifted further right from where they traditionally were. It's a weird brand of half-baked, left-wing populism, instead of the pro-labour, quasi-socialist movement it traditionally was.
We've also lost the PCs both federally and provincially for a much more right-wing brand of conservatism, so yeah, I'd say the political climate in Canada has definitely shifted right.

Go eat breakfast at Burger King. Or McDonalds! you'd be dead.
The only thing better than an A&W breakfast, is an A&W breakfast with a coupon.

Depends on what you get. The Bacon n Egger is something Tim Hortons would have rejected for being too awful.

If you like your meat so salty you can't taste anything because it's garbage, A&W is for you.

Seriously A&W. Why are you still making your burgers like you had to ensure they survive the trip through the northwest passage? Tone it down.
And why do your onion rings feel like they're coated in MDF?

But the extra mayo makes it magic. Some want their burgers to sizzle, I want mine to splash.

I don't usually eat fast food burgers, but when I do it's an A&W mozza burger.

The Whopper is great. Most everything else about BK is meh. But all of it is better than A&W.

JBC from Wendy's and regular cheesburger from McDonalds are the only fast food I will eat. Everything else is trash, including A&W.

I don't mind A&W but I really wish they would cut back on the seasoning salt. It dominates their onion rings and burgers.
