My Tri/TT bike has all internal frame cabling for the derailleurs and rear brake. Wires pop out of the aero bars and go into the top of the frame. I have a tiny wire for the front brake (which is hidden behind the front fork).

If any of you are bell ringers when you are 2 feet behind me and my dog, I know there is a special place in Hell just for you.
If I’m on the MUP I ring at least 20 yards behind giving at least 5 seconds or so for people and there dogs to react.

I'm a 3 dinger. Once from a distance, if I see no reaction, you get another one 30 or so feet away. No reaction? 10 feet. Still nothing? I get as far around you as possible, unless you are directly in my way with no way around, then you get the thunder horn.

I was actually complimented on my bell ringing twice this morning! After all my complaints about how terrible cyclists can be when I'm out walking, I have set a high bar though.

Similarly, I usually thank people when I ring my bell and they make an effort to acknowledge and move over a bit.
Feels like the right thing to do.

Do you need to acknowledge a ding if you aren’t in the way to begin with? I have always wondered if it’s necessary - nobody has ever said anything when I have just stayed my course.

I usually give a little wave or something so the cyclist behind me knows that I heard them. The thing is, your bell isn't like a car horn where you're telling someone to get out of the way. Most of the time it's a courtesy to let people know that you're going to pass them.

I definitely appreciate a little wave or moving over a little more just so I know they've heard the bell. When they do nothing I worry I'm going to startle them on the way by.

I just want to see something, anything that lets me know you heard me. A half step right, a slight twinge of the head, adjusting the dog position, anything. But ya, if you are far enough right it doesn't bother me, particularly if the path is wide enough and no one else is around, but I'll probably still ring 3 times, in case you have headphones in and really didn't hear the first 2.

I ring my bell, if you are surprised as I pass after I ring my bell, that’s on you. I try to give a good amount of time before.

Even if I’m out of the way I’ll move a bit when I hear a ring just to let them know.
I do like the wave when I ring though.

Looking at doing a loop with Symons Valley Road, Big Hill Springs, To Bearspaw road. I had done it about 10 years ago, just wondering if traffic is going to be an issue on a Sunday? Not much shoulder on some sections.

Haven't done in this year but typically traffic is relatively light along that stretch. I can't see Sunday being heavier than typical

Anybody able to recommend a new road helmet? My helmet lining is so thin the plastic gives me a line across my forehead.

Helmets are a tough thing to recommend as what fits my pumpkin may be uncomfortable for you.
Go to the LBS and try a bunch on. There are are options from $80 to &220 or so

I'm renting an office downtown to give myself some space from the kids and wife who are off for the summer. It's been fun getting to commute again. 25kmish to start the day is great.
I do wish the office was closer to the East side of the core. There's too much stopping and starting once you get into the core.

I finally have a shot at a full week of rides to work. I broke a spoke on Monday on one of my bikes that's a bit more fun for things like going around the weir. Also, I love that I'm literally outpacing Deerfoot traffic between Blackfoot and Memorial every day.
