I think Beer Revolution has high tables, and their gluten free pizza is decent. Same with Double Zero Pizza.

There are a bunch of restaurants that have this type of seating now, especially around the kitchen/bar area.

Bridgette Bar
Ten Foot Henry
Ox Tapas Bar
Charcut

off the top of my head.

Where do you guys recommend for a delicious steak dinner these days?

Open Range on Edmonton Trail. They have beef but their game meat is delicious too.

Yup, I love open range. Their cheese scalloped potatoes are incredible. Elk steak is yummy.

After dinner tonight, I can confirm that Workshop has some of those tables. They seem to be larger tables though, so if you go, I would recommend calling with your request ahead of time.

If you want classic Calgary steak house (all about the meat with no concern for atmosphere or sides) I recommend Buchannons.

If you want a more modern restaurant I would go with modern steak.

Still Vintage. Always Vintage.

The wife and I went to Fleur de Sel Brasserie last night on 4th Street - a great little french bistro.
The Mussels are probably best in the city - and I had the surf and turf with Tuna and a tenderloin. Everything was top notch. Highly recommended and if you get there early enough (they tend to get busy around 7) you can get a seat by the window and people watch as you enjoy your meal.
Great time.

Went to Bread and Circus. Will take a pass.

Nigroni was good.

For starters, The antipasti was quite good. The cauliflower dish was meah.

The Oxtail pasta was good, but it is basically an identical dish from Alforno. Just the pasta type changed.

The Spaghetti with Prawns wasn't very good at all.

The space is nice, just needs much better food. All 4 of us agreed, too many good options out there to go back.

Great time.
Celebrated my birthday there. Dale is the best waiter in town - played the Marilyn Monroe birthday song for me, lit up the disco ball, brought out three big balloons, and a flaming tarte tartin.

Fleur de Sel never disappoints. Same menu, same staff - for decades. Still excellent. And the tarte tartin is the ####.

We went to Anew Table last Friday night and really enjoyed it. We had the five course meal paired with wine. The waiters were really knowledgable (although one couldn't remember the word kolhrabi, he was new, it was kinda funny) - they explained the wine really well and it was paired very well, although they could have gone a touch sweeter with the dessert pairing, it did get a bit lost. It was super quiet in there though, I wonder if it's not doing well.

Chili's closing Alberta locations (except for airports):

North Hill Chilis was always busy.

Comment section blames the NDP!

Working at Chili's was one of my first jobs back in Calgary. This was back when Chili's first opened in Canada. I Can't say I'm sad they're closing down. That was probably the most horrific job I ever had in my life.

Did the people leaving comments not get the memo? Everyone knows it's millennials, not the NDP, who are killing chain restaurants.

My dog is glad the airport ones are staying. Every time she works at the airport, she tries to sneak under the railings at the Chili's locations.

Millenials killed the memo delivery industry, too.

Wow, Chronicles Pub, which replaced 80th and Ivy on 17th Ave SW, didn't last long. It didn't last long enough for Julie Van Rosendaal's article on them to get published.

We went the day after their "grand opening" and weren't thrilled with it - nachos were on special but they didn't have any, they ran out the night before , husband's burger was dry and burned to a crisp. But yeah, that's one short restauarant life.
