Oiler fans getting real salty now. Some are still in denial that we are charging back and refuse to believe the Flames have turned a corner. That same group also doesn’t see their own team crumbling in front of them. I hope we are firmly ahead by Christmas

Yup. I'd think he would rent a place close to the arena on practice days, or maybe share with another guy.

I mean, I have a buddy that drives his Subaru BRX in from Cochrane every day, but I’m not convinced he would relish sharing the +20 min commute with a middle aged corporate shill.

I imagine that a guy like Dube wants to be as fresh as possible for practice because so many coaching/lineup/ice time decisions are made then. It's also not exactly an easy drive to the airport (though I'm not sure how the team handles transport to the airport on travel days).

Plus, you know, maybe at 21 making NHL money, he might not want to live with mom and dad in the exurbs.

This is what I think will happen with both Colorado and Edmonton, they are going to fall off a cliff later in the year heading into the playoffs because they rely on one line way too much and those guys are going to be dead tired going into the post season. Ok, Colorado actually because there will be no playoffs for the Oilers.

With the emergence of him and Mangiapane, the Flames are back to having enviable depth.
And having Backlund play RW might just be the missing piece.

Yes, enviable depth. It's nice to feel some optimism again with those two breaking out. Also knowing that Phillips and Gawdin are down on the farm right now following a similar path as Dube and Mangiapane did.
Hopefully Ward has some more magic elixer for Bennett and Czarnik whenever they get back into the line up. An embarrassment of riches and valuable assets won't hurt my feelings any.

Could you imagine if Ward is able to be the fourth overall pick whisperer to Bennett, and finally unlock him?

Especially when you max out on those 23 minutes. I don't recall a weak shift by Mackinnon until that very moment.

Well, he kinda got schooled by Janko & friends in regulation time when Frolik scored his goal.

I said I don't recall. You must make allowances for old age.

I sat beside his grandmother (Red Kelly's sister, I believe) at a game last year, she wasn't a fan club member that evening. Mark wasn't playing well.

And while most guys would send a dribbler into the goalie's pads (which is probably what Francouz was expecting as he goes down early), Monahan -- with his hands only about 8 inches apart -- snaps it right over the goalie's shoulder.

Had an idea!
|
If you go back through the years a lot of the goals Monahan scores are similar. Puck not in a perfect position, and yet he still elevates and finds the open net.
I think with Backlund on the same line it might give him the ability to develop his offensive game a little more. Dude is a legit goal scorer as is.
