I wish all beef was irradiated. If your that concerned about impurities and an insignificant scale of radiation poluting your body become vegan. Irradiation is harmless and the benefits is e.coli free meat that can save lives. The only reason it hasn't been made a standard practice is unreasonable fears.

This irradiation hate should belong with pasteurization.

ok. Do you have anything to address the "baseless" comment you made? (which I was responding to).

The person I know worked at a place where a bunch of different fast food operations sourced their beef, and he says A&W bought the better grade stuff (and paid more for it). This was years 20 years ago, and I don't know if it still works the same way.

i'm thinking the difference between all the fast food joints is marginal at best. They all make their profits selling salty high calorie fatty meals with shockingly low nutrition. And they will tell you anything they think will convince you to spend your $$$ at their stores. Concern about where they get their beef is the least of your worries if you eat fast food regularly.

I will say this though, when it comes to fast food, I don't care where it comes from as long as it tastes good when it's almost midnight and you're drunk.

This double big mac, for example, is fantastic

Alberta Beef has done well with their marketing locally. Unfortunately only Albertans seem to think Alberta beef is anything special.

Given how much lead time it would require to produce a commercial I'm sure it's a coincidence but AW is now running commercials bragging that they use beef from Saskatchewan.

Maybe I'm only noticing now because I don't recall their old commercials focusing on the Canadian beef angle.

That commerical has been going for a couple weeks now. I kind of laughed when I first saw it because they managed to take an extremely pretentious ad campaign and layer a healthy dose of disingenuous bullcrap on top. I'm guessing with everyone else playing up the made in Canada angle, they felt they needed to respond.

I've had a number of friends and relatives from other parts of Canada ask me to take them out for a "real Alberta beef" meal.

The thing is, before these sort of issues hit the media, when you picked a steak house or chop house it was kind of a crap shoot to know where the meat originated. Some places advertised Alberta beef, but lots of other places might only mention it on the menu.

I don't find that to be true at all. Everywhere I go - and I travel a lot - people constantly mention Alberta Beef if the subject of beef comes up.
