Unfortunately, it's been known for a long time that piercing the veil is an incredibly difficult task.
The term "cognitive dissonance" has become almost overused these days, it was coined in 1954 in When Prophecy Fails: A Social and Psychological Study of a Modern Group That Predicted the Destruction of the World which looked at what happened in an apocalyptic cult when the predicted end of the world did not arrive.
When a predicted flood did not occur: "Many of those with the highest levels of belief, commitment and social support became more committed to their beliefs, began to court publicity in a way they had not before, and developed various rationalizations for the absence of the flood."
Though there are valid criticisms of the specific work done in When Prophecy Fails, the resulting ideas have been put to the test over and over again. One of the key elements necessary for someone to maintain their fervor in the face of obvious evidence to the contrary is social support. Of course, today we have the internet, where you can find social support for any group, idea, cause, thought, or theory you might have which means we're likely to see more and more people double down on ridiculous notions despite all evidence to the contrary.
I mean, just look how excited we get at the start of each hockey season despite this franchise kicking us in the mediocre balls for decades on end.

Two Alberta lawyers charged with attempting to obstruct justice have been prohibited from practising law anywhere in Canada for three years as part of a deal with Manitoba prosecutors that saw their charges stayed.
Randal Jay Cameron and John Carpay were also charged with intimidation of a justice system participant after they hired a private investigator to follow the Manitoba judge who presided over their case challenging COVID-19 restrictions in 2021.

Interesting development south of the border. Looks like the Supreme Court will be considering whether political protest car honking is protected by the first amendment. Link:

Also from the US. Looks people people are injured by vaccines and there is a special process to seek compensation. the one for Covid Vaccine injuries looks a little unfriendly for those seeking compensation. link:

It sounds really, really stupid, but in terms of honking one's car being 'freedom of expression', it's either that or I install a PA system in my vehicle to tell you "YOU ARE ATTEMPTING TO LANE CHANGE INTO MY VEHICLE YOU BLIND TWAT".
Ahem. Let's just say I had a fun interaction with some dipsh-t in a Toyota RAV4 on NB Crowchild exiting to Memorial this afternoon. From the far left lane ALL THE WAY RIGHT to damn near bash into my vehicle to take the Memorial exit.

Hey, it's the US. Where spending/donating unlimited amounts oof money on political advertising is also protected by the first amendment. As a matter of free speech, honking a horn is practically poetry compared to that.

Oh yeah. Reason makes no bones about being very strongly libertarian. But, while the opinions are skewed, they generally have the facts and the law right. A lot if the articles are written by US law professors. Once you are aware of general libertarian slant the site serves as a reliable place for information about free speech and more troubling government programs/praxtices like civil asset forfeiture and qualified immunity.

I think I prefer the CDC stats on 'vaccine injuries' than a libertarian source that claims to be neutral.
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019...se-events.html
Health Canada days there is a 0.058% rate of adverse events following a vaccination. Of which over 80% were non-serious.
If anything, people should be following the VAERS stats for US-related vaccine injury info, not a slanted news source no different from the Western Standard IMO.

The article wasn't about vaccine injury rates, it was about the claims process for seeking compensation and the rates at which claims are accepted and denies and procedural hurdles built into the claims process. It's about the legal process in the US.
