For the sake of transparency, I actually emailed Pierre after he posted the first story I linked there. He was kind enough to reply to me, and we ended up speaking about Brendan Burke, Brian Burke, John Buccigross's article about about Brendan and what it meant to me to see these stories as a hockey fan.

I don't have anything going with the mods. They don't talk to me. Would just be nice if they could provide some explanation for deleting posts rather than just silently doing so. I've had relatively benign stuff deleted and more spicy stuff remains. I'm too lazy to ask why.

Hard to blame them if they did. This topic has really shined a light on the level of hatred, ignorance, and bigotry that’s clearly still very prevalent and if they nuked a post it happens. Hard to distinguish between the intentionally hateful and those who choose to engage in silly devil’s advocate pedantic arguments. One will get caught up in the wake if one chooses to try and play philosophy 101 with emotional topics they don’t seem to understand. Read the room etc

As far as I am concerned make every one of those bigots who refuse to wear a pride jersey go out in the warmups to at least let me know who I won't cheer for.
We know horrible people who have outdated opinions exist, that is what thanksgiving dinner is for. This at least lets me know who is the awful uncle in the family is. Hockey in general and the NHL in particular is a very rich sport when you consider the tens of thousands of dollars that is costs families to put their kids into organized hockey and even more at the elite levels. The NHL is likely filled with undereducated rich white men with conservative values.
