The two albums I'm excited about right now are the new Amon Tobin album (the only electronica artist I have any interest in), and the upcoming release by Andrew Bird (who could give Sufjan Stevens a run for his money in the indie-singer-songwriter-multi-instrumentalist category).

Don't tell anyone here, but I actually like her stuff. It's simple, catchy and I like her voice.

I'm also waiting for the new GnR and wouldn't mind getting my hands on something new from Coldplay...

Also something new from Matt Good and/or The Trews would be awesome.

I don';t think you will see anything new from coldplay for a while. They seem to have quite the turblent times when doing new material, and they seem to take quite a while inbetween cds...

Why would I bother? You've clearly made up your mind on the subject. There's lots of bands out there with immense talent that aren't my cup of tea and you won't see me bashing them. Nickleback, Linkin Park, etc do not fall into that category.

LP Lead singer Mike Shinoda might be one of the more talented guys in music....He does everything in the production of many bands albums....produces, mixes, etc.

Hell...The DJ, Mr. Hahn produces the music videos.

The group has oodles of talent.

You're right. I really shouldn't be lumping them in with Nickleback. That being said, I've never really thought highly of their lyrical abilities.

The new Andrew Bird is currently my favorite album of the year along with the new Deerhoof and Of Montreal.

If you like those check out Menomena's new album. Fantastic.

Also, Neon Bible has grown on me considerably since when I first listened.

I'm a huge fan of Menomena! I don't love their new album as much as their debut but it's still really solid.

I'm still a little iffy on Neon Bible, some tracks have grown on me over time ("Ocean of Noise" is fantastic) but I still feel there is a lot of filler on the album and it really doesn't have the same emotion as Funeral.

Neon Bible needs to be listened as an album, not a compilation of tracks. While Funeral has the superior singles, as a whole Neon Bible works well. Funeral is still the better album but don't let the catharsis of Funeral get in the way of enjoying Neon Bible.

So if I like White Stripes (and like is about as far as it goes with me) I can't dislike Linkin' Park?

I aint proclaiming them to be the best musicians, songwriters or anything like that, but they make catchy ass songs and have variety in their stuff. Off Meteora, their last CD, their singles were Faint, Somewhere I Belong, Numb and Breaking the Habit. Not one of those songs sounds remotely the same, and Breaking the Habit was unlike anything they have done. Also on the CD, there's a track called Nobody's Listening, not my favorite song, but they use this old style Japanese flute type instrument and blend it with a pretty good beat to make a song that was totally original. Don't like them, that's fine, but they are nowhere near the same league as Bizkit.

And also, LP is amazing live, Chester can scream with the best of them, seen them 4 times. Can't wait for "Minutes to Midnight"!!!
Hey, it's just the whole rap/rock genre. I don't like any of them...it drives me nuts. and to reference another post below...not necessarily your comments (you were very diplomatic and friendly unlike some) I didn't say anything about the intellect. All I said is I hate it. Didn't criticize anyone for liking it.

I'm not so sure - I've listened to Neon Bible "as an album" a number of times and I just don't get the cohesive feel that I did with Funeral. Likewise, some of the lyrics are so noticeably bad that they actually take away from the finished product.

I'm a massive fan of Funeral but I don't believe I will ever truly love Neon Bible.

Neon Bible was actually the #2 album in the US last week. Not bad for an indie band from MTL.
