I realize I'm probably late to the table with Shogun, but holy cow is it ever good. Absolute must watch. It's right up there with The Last Kingdom for me.

I found the first couple episodes a tough watch; i wouldnt have kept going but my wife liked it. The episodes have gotten a bit better, but I am still not sure i like it.

I find Kate Winslet overly irritating in it. I know she is supposed to be, but it's a bit much

I dont know anything for sure, but I suspect it has something to do with Oldman. I read that he had said that Season 2 of Slow Horses was it for him. He'd do that season and then he was retiring.

But they begged and begged him to do another season, he acquiesced but with some conditions and then it seemed like his heart just wasnt in it.

The books are not much different...the tone of them gets...boggy after a bit; but then, post-COVID, seem to pick up again, although Mick Herron is quite happy to disappoint readers in a variety of interesting ways.

Looks like Gary Oldman will do 2 more seasons then quit, so it won't quite finish the book series (which, IIRC, is awaiting book 8). S01 was far and away his best work in Slow Horses, but also worth watching: Darkest Hour (Churchill) and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. I believe he won Best Actor as Churchill.

So, on the fence about watching, though I probably will because it's supposed to be graphically fantastic.

Well, I'm into E06 now. Interesting way of presenting the story, which, in writing is a definitely hard physics...so somewhat "dumbed down" for more popular appeal. I hope it doesn't go the way of Inception which had so much multidimensional gobbledy#### in it that it was entirely unintelligble and the ending could have been...literally...anything, and worked.

The characters seem FAR too young and good looking to be believable for me in their rank in the world of physics. But then, I'm a pretty old goat. (As an aside: One of the usual things about Brit TV shows, especially cop shows, is that the women are often highly believable because they're not all 25 and models. So this is a bit out of step there for me.)

I wont lie, Gary Oldman is a goddamned Treasure. That man is amazing in pretty much everything he puts his effort into.

Finished the Ted TV series, it's better than it has any right to be honestly. Felt like a perfect mix of Family Guy and Orville humor, hope they make more seasons

Season 17 of Taskmaster is beginning to be released. All old episodes are on Youtube, as that seems to be how they distribute the show over seas.

I really, really love this show. It's funny, unexpected, and surprisingly competitive. It never gets old. For Ted Lasso fans, you'll note that Nick Mohammed is in this series. Enjoy!

I recall enjoying Halo season one, but season two is proving a bit of a chore to get through.

I’m two episodes in and quite liking it. I enjoyed the book, but less so than others who call it a masterpiece. So far, I think I enjoy the show more.

I watched episode 1 and thought it was pretty good - I'm looking forward to seeing it grow a bit more. Then again, I could probably watch Ewan MacGregor read a Sean Chu speech and still be entertained, so that may be a factor. But I think it has good potential.

I thought they nailed the aesthetics very well. It's pretty much what I imagined in my head. The tone was okay, but I think could have been a little bit better. The character and story is a master class in stoicism, and I wanted to see them highlight that more.

I know the story, and so I'm looking forward to how it changes over the time periods.

Anyone watching the newest season of The Great British Bake off?

Not sure about the new host. Does she have any jokes that aren’t innuendo?

Do like there are no more ethnic weeks so Paul Hollywood won’t anger half the world with his very British interpretations of foreign baked goods.

I’m trying to watch this Sugar show on Apple but man it kinda sucks. Colin Ferrell is a good enough actor but this is completely uninteresting. The camera choices are amateur at best and most of it feels like it was shot on an iPhone. I can usually be easily coerced into watching any kind of neo noir adjacent media but so far this is not enjoyable.

I’ll give it a few more episodes but this pilot is a two pack of ass. I think it wants to be a less comedic get shorty

Just finished binging 30 episodes of Mythic Quest on Apple. Solid workplace comedy with some skewering of the tech industry and nerd culture reminiscent of Silicon Valley. Like Silicon Valley one of the biggest issues is a main cast member being fired causing some narrative issues. Also sometimes doesn't have enough for the entire ensemble cast to do but overall very funny and engaging. Danny Pudi is a comedic treasure, I need to watch Community again.
