There cannot be too many popeyes, the more I go, the less I like other chicken joints in the city. Fritou chicken was a massive disappointment now that my taste buds have adjusted to the magic of Popeyes.

This is not at all surprising considering they are now owned by the Tim Hortons parent company. Enjoy the good chicken while it lasts.

The Wendy’s on 17th ave and 12th st SW is is going to be a Popeye’s. We already have a ton of chicken places in the beltline. The KFC across the street is garbage so they might be in trouble.

The chicken tenders remind me of Ogam’s. I feel bad about myself. On that note, McKnight location is open now.

I always assumed people simply love fried chicken as I don't understand why people would pay for KFC which is simply gross. Popeye's is definitely better but still I don't know if it's worth lining up for. You would have to think Popeye's is going to put a dent into their Canadian market share as if you have a choice between the two I don't see why anyone would go to KFC.

Nobody is lining up anymore; the novelty of the new restaurant has faded, but it is still worth going to over other fried chicken places. There's enough difference between Popeye's, Fritou's, and Olive's for each to have a piece of the market, but there are definitely more Popeye's opening up all over the place.

I mean it’s fast food fried chicken so I don’t expect much. But I can’t say I’ve had better fried chicken anywhere else in Calgary.

Because Popeyes doesn't seem to have a online complaint form thingy, I get to vent here.
Been to the new location off McKnight three times since they've opened and all three times my order has been wrong. It's new so I'll give it a bit more time. I used to get miffed at the people that check their order before driving off...

This is extremely common at both NW locations. I'm glad they don't have a drive thru. I will not leave without checking my order one by one, 9 out of 10 times something is missing.

I figure Korean chicken will eventually take over the fried chicken segment of the food scene the way Vietnamese took over the soup/lunch segment.

Popeyes in the States is awesome, the Popeye's in Calgary was just terrible. The experience reminded me of Target here, great reputation south of us but terrible implementation here leaving customers disappointed. I was really disappointed, especially since I was familiar with the American version.
Not that I eat a ton of fried food, but I will hit up a Popeyes in the States, but not here ever again.

Go to Cluck N Cleaver at 1511 14 Street SW. Best fast food fried chicken in Calgary. Beats KFC, Chicken on the Way, Popeyes, etc.
