You do realize much of the votes were split between the PC's and the Wildrose, right?

NDP squeezed through between two hapless and warring parties, feuding over which Con party was best Con party.

Which made Notley an Accidental Premier. One and done.

I was thinking the battle between her and Sonya Savage, the UCP candidate, was going to be particularly interesting. Savage seems like a strong candidate, and Jansen, despite everything, is a high profile candidate.

For me, I'd rather see the NDP going down swinging. Make the UCP work to get elected instead of just giving up like we're seeing.

If you read the tweets from various NDP MLA's the focus is all on Kenney with attempts to demonise him at every opportunity. That seems to be the plan of Notley with hopes the average Albertans will buy her lies and half truths.

Who's fault is it the NDP got in the first place? Pretty sure most Albertans didn't intend for that to happen. It was very Ed Stelmach-ish.

I’m an outsider here, but my understanding was that the Conservative vote was split and the NDP drove up the middle.

Okay, and yet somehow despite this calamity of errors working in their favour you would defend WhiteOut's position that they did a sufficiently exemplary job to 'deserve a second term?'

Be interesting to see some numbers on this but there were lot's of people who voted PC all their lives that voted NDP last time, simply to see the PC's in the penalty box for a term.

Did they make up him claiming his mother’s basement as his primary residence in order to get a publicly funded allowance?

Nope. You said this province wasn't too conservative to elect them in the first place. I'm saying that was the case, as the majority of Albertans who voted did so for a right-wing party. Vote-splitting caused the NDP to win.

Better question is finding someone who will admit to voting NDP.

They deserve to be tossed for the epic screw up on the power-purchase agreements alone. A self-inflicted error in their rush to be green, which cost taxpayers billions.

Not to mention the cringe-worthy "enron clause!" conspiracy theory and lawsuit that followed.

Should we not wait for the truth before making accusations?

Essentially the same game plan used against many right leaning candidates - both in Canada and south of the border. Hardly a new idea but it does carry traction with some voters. In Alberta we've seen evidence of this for at least a year now.

I expect that the Friends of Alberta's Nurses. Friends of teachers, friends of healthcare and all of those other union backed third party groups are heading to the studios.

If Kenney wins, Calgarians will have both a mayor and a premier who are confirmed bachelors living with their mothers. We just need another McKenzie King in Ottawa for the trifecta.

Kenney could live in a van down by the river for all I care. The issue isn’t the type of property he resides in. The issue is that he was claiming his mother’s basement as his primary residence to get a taxpayer funded allowance when it’s clear he wasn’t, you know, primarily residing there. How fiscally conservative of me to take issue with that.

You’d think that the former president and CEO of the Canadian Taxpayer Federation, as well as the majority of “fiscally conservative” posters here would have an issue with this sort of thing but here we are.
