I'm not sure why, but you mentioning the Avs in this thread reminded me of how I found out a couple years ago that when they were relocating to Colorado one of the concepts for a team name was 'The Rocky Mountain Xtreme'.
Now THAT is vomit inducing!
When they do finally settle on a name I hope they release a list of some of the other ideas floated around, because whether we end up liking or hating the new name it probably won't be the worst one proposed.
Sincerely thinking about all of the fans, as well as employees. It is never good to lose a team. It is a somber and sobering night in all reality. Sad for the fans in Arizona, but we all know that the excitement is building in Utah.

All 2000 of them. I went to the Chicago game in October and the majority of the people there travelled from Chicago. Met a bunch snow birds from Canada. They thumped Chicago 7 - 1 with a hat trick and nary a hat to seen on the ice. If they had fan support they wouldn't be moving.

Twenty or 20,000, there is still a personal loss. That still disregards all the hard working people that may lose their jobs

Ah, the mid 90s. Where everything was extreme and in your face.

Yeti is likely being the name. Ryan Smith had it as a brand before all this news got announced.
The name feels very fitting and very 2020s. I would be shocked if it is anything else tbh.
There isa reason all the news articles put it at the top and media push the name as an option for a reason.
Mark Chipman wanted to rename the Atlanta "Thrashers" to "Polar Bears" when the team relocated to Winnipeg, but the Bruins objected. (That and I think public pressure to revive the Jets name). Similarly, thats why I don't think "Grizzlies" will be used. Boston apparently have the proprietary rights to ursines in the NHL.
Maybe the wildly popular cooler company might have a slight issue with Yeti as a team name? Im gonna assume they own a copyright or two yeah or does that not matter
