I think the only useful bumper stickers are the “Baby on Board” ones, except they need the addition of “,and they’re driving”. I think it’s implied, and a valuable public service warning for those driving around them. Otherwise, expressing your political views or family make up by putting stickers on your car is just stupid.

I will occasionally see the odd bumper sticker that makes me chuckle, but I wouldnt put one on my car.

But without bumper stickers how will I know who people's co-pilot is?

There are enough voters who think that way (and no credible challenge for the voters in their base it might annoy) that changing the name is 100% the right move.
Would it not take 0.0001 seconds for the UCP to just says 'whatever they call it party' is the NDP in everything but name only? It would only work on the most uninformed voters going.

The UCP would absolutely do that. But the new NDP could also use that to hilight places where they differ from the federal NDP and generally run on a "we're rational centrists" campaign.

They don't need to convince people they're smarter than the UCP, that's obvious. They need to convince them they aren't a left wing radical group, and changing the name would help.

Also, I think that last group ("most uninformed") is probably a solid 10% of voters...

Kenney releasing his "Move to Alberta" campaign to try and poach Vancouver and Toronto workers. Here's a screenshot of his press conference today:

I am too lazy to look up how much this program is needed vs cost etc etc

But just based on the little you quoted it seems fine by me, heck even potentially something the UCP now has done that is good.

Yeah, I too am mystified about slagging Kenney for one of very few, actually well intended and seemingly so far reasonably well rolled out initiatives his government has produced.

Alberta needs more skilled workers. We do have higher wages and less obtuse real estate prices. If anything they should be advertising that their party is unlikely to be leading the province by the time any of these skilled workers actually relocates here!

They might want to publicize this study.

The best places to live in North America

… It ranks living conditions in 172 cities around the world, taking into account more than 30 factors related to education, culture, the environment, health care, infrastructure and stability…

… Those looking for a new home may want to consider Calgary. The Canadian city scored 96 points, the most of any North American city in the region. It is not its first time at the top: Calgary has come first in the region twice before in the past decade. Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal filled the next three spots. Residents of all four Canadian cities enjoy top scores for health care and education. Canada’s rollout of covid-19 vaccine boosters and the quick reopening of schools during the pandemic aided its high marks...

I think it's ironic the UCP is trying to promote Alberta to two groups of people who would largely have "current government" as a con of moving here.

Sure it’s ironic but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad idea, bad roll out or they shouldn’t try

If they really want to try they could be much more effective by putting out their own dumpster fire than a PR campaign.

You're preaching to the choir here, but as Mull is likely going to point out, the UCP have no interest at all in putting out the dumpster fire. In fact, more than half the party seems more interested in increasing the size of the blaze.

But, we can't simply cheer that they'll do nothing at all... because the reality is that they're helming our ####ing lives and economy. It's a REALLY good thing that they're at least putting SOME effort into this. Because, I want a family doctor. And you probably do too. Those are skilled workers that they are hoping to attract.

This is nonsense.

Their “dumpster fire” is the sum of their actions and policies.

If one agree this policy is a good idea - they are taking one step towards putting out their dumpster fire.

Now maybe the other foot is taking six steps back but that doesn’t mean this isn’t a good idea?
