I had no opinion either way of the royals prior to the show. I’m just surprised they portray them so poorly. Almost cruelly so.

I’m surprised this is news to some here. It’s been all over the social media and the news every time a new season launches that the show portrays them far more scandalous than the royal biographers would have you believe.

At this point it seems the show runners know it makes headlines and go out of their way to do it.

I'm reading Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls to my daughter and last night we got to Margaret Thatcher. I was like this should be fun to explain to a 4 year old.

On topic, I've had free Apple TV+ for a while now but haven't watched anything until giving Long Way Up a go. This is another Ewan and Charlie motorcycle trip, this time going from the southern tip of the Americas to LA. I was getting pretty frustrated in the first episode with them being very fart smelly about the electric bikes while jetting around the world. The bikes however ended up adding an interesting twist to the trip, that without would have made this just an unnecessary sequel. I'm a fan of travel shows and this didn't disappoint as that, providing beautiful scenery and pushing South America up my travel wish list.

Fred Armisen created a punk rock character for SNL - his strange attribute was he was a big Thatcher fan.

Even Logan at times, you feel bad for him just trying to preserve all the things he built, because every time he tries to turn it all over to one of his kids they #### it all up in new and creative ways, but then you remember he is just deplorable.

So true you don't like any of them, but there's always one of them hanging out there that you want to like in the moment. I'm not sure there is anyone your ever actually rooting for in Crown, I'm not sure they made even Diana empathetic.

Hmm, I haven't seen The Crown but I saw this JJ McCullough video that seems to suggest that the show presents Thatcher in good way.

Watched the two-part HBO documentary on Tiger Woods.

Thought it was quite well done.

She had a middle class background. The video makes it seem like the show presented her as relatable and in a loving marriage.

Relatable is the last thing I would ever use to describe Thatcher on the Crown. Cold hearted, stubborn, detached from reality, pandering to the rich, pig headed, self centered, completely lacking empathy.

Basically a british Ronald Regan/Republican.

j.j McCulloch is somewhat well known as a pretty big canadian conservative so that take would be up his alley.

I've been reading the Foundation series by Asimov. I'm on the 3rd book and was thinking this would be an awesome TV miniseries.

Checked online and AppleTV has it coming out this year.

Really excited. If it stays faithful to the book will be pretty epic!

I'm really loving Resident Alien. Alan Tudyk is good in everything and especially the weirdo roles.

Really like the premise, he's not the normal nice alien fish out of water trying to blend in. He's a homicidal killer on a mission to end humanity.

Well it took me long enough to start watching The Wire. I just finished season 1 and it is already one of the best shows I have ever seen. Insane that it took me this long to start it.

I'm really enjoying World's Most Dangerous Roads on Amazon.

It's a BBC produced piece where typically 2 comedians travel together across some of...as the title suggests...most dangerous roads. For fans of the Long Way series - you'll like this too (Charlie is in one of the episodes)

I gave it an honest effort and I'm glad I did. The characters started to grow on me by the middle of the second season, and the additions of Adam Scott and Rob Lowe changed the dynamic a lot. Didn't even really notice that Schneider left.

It's still essentially a re-boot of The Office, but it has its charms.

Heh. Just wait and see how long it takes to finish it. Lol
I've been chipping away at it for close to 15 years now.
Somewhere near the end season 3 I think.
I have great respect for any who grind their way all the way to the end.
