I'll admit to having an odd fascination with serial killers over the years. And while he technically doesn't fall under that category, he's certainly one of the most reviled and well publicized criminals of our lifetime. Good riddance when the end finally comes.
I read Helter Skelter back in high school. Also watched a very freaky movie made from Manson Family home film and interviews with Family members. Looking back, it's stuff you'd rather wasn't put in your brain.
More recently, I read some articles about the Dennis Wilson's relationship with Manson that are pretty disturbing, including this interview with Mike Love in People magazine.
So weird how California was such a mecca for cults in the 60s and 70s. I don't know if it's still available, but Netflix had a documentary about The Source Family and it's guru Father Yod. Crazy stuff. It seems young people with empty family lives + a culture celebrating rebellion against social norms + drugs + messianic sociopaths who want to sleep with loads of women = bad news.

The thing that always struck me about Manson is his eyes. They look lifeless, or maybe soulless is a better description. When hit with light in certain instances/angles, they turn red. I am not a religious man what so ever, but this guy really does have the feel of the devil reincarnate.

Like a great white shark. No life there at all.

I read that Bugliosi book as well many years ago, I think I bought it at a flea market in Calgary? Very interesting and pretty disturbing at the same time. Had a hard time putting the book down.
