Would You Re-sign Stajan?
The guy is close to 1,000 games, has played a huge part of that in the Flaming C.
We know that he isn’t worth 3m per year, but you cannot deny that he’s been a true warrior on this team and a key player in the bottom six. And i don’t ever recall him complaining about his playing time.
Would you re-sign the guy if he was willing to take a 1-2 year contract with only 33% of what he is making currently?

Nope. Time to get younger and make room for some kids from Stockton.

Stajans really grown on me over the past couple years. I think you base the possibility of an offer based on playoff performance this year (assuming we get in). I have a feeling he will be a PTO at best after this season though.

Sure. As a coach. In the minors.

The effort is there, but his offensive game and skating abilities are starting to drop big time. He's a wonderful guy, but I think this is his last season with the Flames...possibly even in the NHL. Perhaps some other team will find a need for him, but I doubt it.
It's why I believe they brought Shore in. I believe he'll be given a chance to be the 4th line center beginning next year.

Nope, but it will be nice to see him get 1,000 NHL games and a silver stick at the end of this year.
Hope he gets another NHL playing job on another team next year, but he'll likely need to fight through a PTO to get it.
Good luck to him.

He's flown under the radar for a lot of his tenure I think, but I appreciate what he's done here.
That being said, I don't know if he's bringing anything to the table at this point, that can't be provided by a few guys on the farm. Even if he is, the difference on that fourth line is probably marginal, but it's nice to have space in the bottom 6.

No, there just isn't room anymore.
With a few kids coming in, the possibility of keeping Shore, money needed elsewhere etc.

Nice try, Matt Stajan's agent.
Very clever attempt to test the waters of public support.

Oh yes, you got me there. Pretty arrogant of you to be honest.
I’d suggest you look up how much Matt Stajan has done for the Flames and for all of the Calgary community in general.

I wouldn't be upset to bring him in on a league minimum one year contract but meh.
We have Shore and Lazar already.

Nope, I like Matt, I still tear up at the goal against Edmonton when I see it, but its time to make room for the hungry young guys

I like Matt Stajan and I think he’s been serviceable. He’s definitely overpaid but he gives his all each and every night and rarely takes an evening off, a true professional.
With that said, I wouldn’t offer him an extension. I’d have no issues with them offering him a position with the team but I think his time has passed as a day to day player.

As a 12/13th guy making 1M for 1 year I'd consider it. He's still good enough to play a depth role, he's a centre who's decent at face offs.

Not a chance. Great dude, appreciate what he's done here, especially the game 6 winner, but he just can't keep up with today's NHL. Sometimes when I watch Stajan and Brouwer out there at the same time, it seems like they're playing a different sport constantly chasing the play.
We need quicker forwards on the bottom 6, who play fast, back check hard, can close in on opponents, and be hard to play against in both ends of the ice. That kind of energetic play can be a real boost to our team game in, game out.
I'd give Stajan a front office position if he'd be interested.

No. I like Stajan, and I can imagine the calming effect he can have on the dressing room, but it is time for the Flames to move on
