It’s early in these series of course, but I wonder if there could be a shift back to teams targeting (and paying a high price for) established #1 goaltenders this offseason. Colorado and Toronto’s goaltending both look suspect and lots of people thought these teams should shore up their goaltending at the TDL. You could add Edmonton to the list if what I think (and hope) will happen to them in the first round. You could potentially have a list of Toronto, Colorado, Edmonton and New Jersey as teams with high expectations that fell flat at least in part due to those teams not paying the price to get better goaltending.

This would be a good development for Calgary going into this offseason since they are looking to get some value for Markstrom in a trade.

I don't know if you'd see a big trade right now, but obviously Conroy and Fitz had a multitude of discussions around Markstrom. Both teams are eliminated so I wouldn't be surprised if they have resumed talks.

If any 2024 picks are potentially going to be involved they would surely wait until the draft lottery and playoffs are done to confirm the final positioning of those picks, but I'm sure it wouldn't stop them from discussing things at this point.

While I still think he heads to NJD, Conroy will almost certainly wait until the draft when he has the most potentials suitors and the chance to play teams against one another.

After winning the draft lottery with our pick (we're due), imagine a deal like that happening where we get 10th overall and Tij is still on the board, or maybe Lindstrom slides, or we grab one of those high end D prospects?

Probably, but if he gets what he wants maybe he doesn't wait in case it slips away.

I think there is zero chance NJ trades its 2024 pick.

Any time. The only rule is that a player acquired after the deadline can't play until next season.

A majority of flames scouts think he’ll be available at 9 if the draft was today. I personally believe he will be a top 5. Still need to see how the lottery balls drop indeed. Tij and his representative have not excluded any team yet who has talked to his camp.
