The negotiation angle just annoys me. What are we meeting and discussing? It's anarchy and basically if the legal methods don't see you get your way, you can just do anything you like if you're willing to disturb everyone else?

I can imagine what's happening in investment circles right now as we look at how this crap show is unfolding and our Governments response.
Invest and try to build things in Canada, lets give that the "You have got to be kidding me" rating.
We talk about fixing investment and bringing money back into this country, its now out of our hands.
I almost can't wait to see what happens in the Spring when we start building on the BC side of the border for TMX. The protest groups have a winning formula.

Original Trudeau, love him or hate him, he actually had balls. How would Justin have dealt with the FLQ? Give them 10 million dollars as appeasement while breaking the laws of the country?
Justin Trudeau: "Getting that balance right and wrapping it up in the path forward ... is really important."
Ontario and Quebec voted for this, and they will likely see some significant impact. Let them sink for once, they voted for this weak and incompetent leader.
I think PET would have thought his own son is a weak kneed, bleeding heart.
The Liberals haven't had a good day today. In his press conference the press was a little hostile accusing him of really doing nothing about this
Then they bought up the pictures of him with his double handed handshake and yuk it up look with the Iranian Foreign Minister, Then they went after him in terms of what's the point of his tour for the UN security seat.
I almost feel sorry for the guy, because on top of this the Teck decision is going to devastate his government no matter which way he decides. He either loses a ton of his base, or he triggers a constitutional crisis.

I’m a little surprised at the reactions on here. Sounds like the rest of you are getting to that same sentiment and mentality about how screwed up our country is as those from the oil and gas industry / circles. None of you seemed overly supportive then and would try to see “both sides” .
This is what industry has been dealing with for the past decade just on a more subtle front. This country is broken.
If they don't want to arrest them, do the Vancouver riots thing and arrest them after the fact. Give them criminal record or deport them if they aren't from Canada.

PET was still alive when his son was having this much fun.
I don't think he ever thought that Justin the clown would somehow be voted in by the socialists in this country. Ironic that Canadians mock Americans in electing Trump while we have the court jester idling by while the country is at a standstill by a dozen rogues.

Anyone know where I can get some "Let the Eastern bastards freeze in the dark" bumper stickers?
It's not just the east (or central). CN's mainline to Prince Rupert was also blockaded meaning the port of Prince Rupert is essentially shut down. Sounds like that blockade was just lifted a few hours ago.
Too bad there wasn't a counter-protest where all access roads in and out of the Wet'suwet'en territory are blocked, so no one could get in or out. We'll see how long they would last once supplies started running out. Use their strategy against them.
Most members of the band - including the elected band council - support the pipeline. It's some hereditary, unelected chiefs who are against it.
The first nations who support these projects need to get up in front of the public relations battle, to debunk the narrative of native vs non-native.

Something bad is going to happen. There are a lot of hopeless, jobless O&G workers in the country who are fed up beyond explanation, and they have nothing to lose.
The police and government need to enforce our laws and control this otherwise I can see some serious acts of vigilante justice happening in the near future. The anger in this country has been simmering for years, and it's boiling over now.

Justin is nowhere near as an effective leader as his dad was.
If you want some interesting reading, go look up the 1969 White Paper. The man did have guts, even if his policies were severely misplaced most of the time.
Quote:
The 1969 White Paper (officially entitled Statement of the Government of Canada on Indian policy) was a proposal set forth by the Government of Canada. It is a Canadian policy paper proposal made in 1969 by Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau and his Minister of Indian Affairs, Jean Chrétien. The White Paper's lead purpose was to abolish all legal documents that had previously existed, including (but not limited to) the Indian Act, and all existing treaties within Canada. The White Paper was met with widespread criticism and activism, causing the proposal of the White Paper to be officially withdrawn in 1970.

At that point I am seriously wondering if the people who are protesting or setting up the blockades are not being paid off by American environmental groups.
There has been enough evidence gathered the last few years that there are many American companies who have let their interests align with these supports and have even helped and influenced the protests.
