My kid randomly got into Power Rangers recently, so I've been watching too.
Let me tell you, even power rangers has better writing and character development than discovery.
Look....I'm a Star Trek fan. I've watched every episode of even some of the grimmest Trek...all of Voyager and all of Enterprise...there were still some nuggets of gold in there.
But I couldnt even force myself to keep watching Discovery.
We all know that Star Trek is cheese and making fun of that cheese-factor is an inherent part of the fun and enjoyment that we take out of Star Trek.
But it just wasnt there with Discovery.
It might suck to say but I dont know what Dicovery was, but it really didnt feel like Star Trek. It felt like an entirely different thing that I was uninterested in and, frankly, sucked.
Maybe one day I'll 'A Clockwork Orange' my way through it...but I dont know.

Obviously this is intended to be a silly, throw-away episode, which would be fine if this were a 22 episode season. But this seems like kind of a waste of good story time when we're only getting 10 episodes.

How are they wasting story time? It's an episodic show. Are we supposed to be getting somewhere?

Thanks for pointing out that this episode was available. I loved every minutes of it.

Opened with a hard shot across the Discovery bow. With Tendi and Rutherfords Science high five followed with Mariner talking about how they're setting the bar low.
The live action Boingler and Mariner was actually a lot of fun, it would have been cool to see live action Tendi and Rutherford.
This was a pretty smart episode, and a good story line.
The ending with the Enterprise crew in Cartoon was hilarious, I was like, did the time line change to cartoon thanks to something that happened naturally in the future or via the Lower Decks crew. Then M'Benga yells "what the hell is in these drinks".
I love that SNW takes some interesting chances with all of their characters esecially Spock and Singh's. Oh and number 1 can wink at me anytime. I'd react like Boingler did
