If Negan likes your wife/gf then he takes her for himself (only if she's willing of course). If she cheats on him then you get the iron. Same thing happened to Dwight.

He and one of Negan's wives were sneaking off together.

Another good episode that proved again that its much more entertaining and effective to follow multiple locations and storylines rather than focus on one thing like the painful "Tara episode".

I don't think it proves that at all. If anything it proves that the single location/group episodes are a great way to build early in a season

Also people seem to be simultaneously demanding action, AKA killing off main characters, and episodes that only focus on main characters.
The issue there is that if you keep killing main characters and don't have episodes that give depth to new characters, you are going to run out of content pretty quickly.
My guess is that this confrontation with Negan is going to result in some serious carnage and death. The show is going to need new characters like Tara and the Seaside colony to focus on.

In any story there are filler chapters that help to flesh out the story. The Tara episode was just that. Introducing an arsenal and a group that hates the saviors that nobody knew about. Could they have managed that episode better, sure. However, one constraint may be contractual. The actors may be getting paid on a per episode appearance. That might be why they opted to have all the Tara stuff together in one episode instead of over three.

If the Tara stuff was split over three episodes, nobody would have paid any attention to it.
As you stated it was also a plot device for the arsenal. The group either magically finds a hidden military cache or they get them from a group that is actively hiding themselves.
My only issue with that is that if a group wanted to get away from the saviours, the solution is to just go really far away.... Like 1000+kms away.

Like 1000+kms away, on an island. Why does no one go to an island?
Well I know because then the show would be really boring. Rick drove everyone to an island where they killed all the walkers, planted farms, and lived a pastoral life until Rick2's pirates attacked and killed everyone and began farming.

Sounds like season 3. Except on an island.

So- back to Atlanta then? After dealing with the Saviors, the hospital group seems like a picnic now. And the hospital group did ask Rick's team to join them.

Oil rig would be decent option as well, great for defense. But supply runs for things they can't grow would be a bit more difficult.

Just got around to watching this yesterday. Basically the moment he asked Rosita to dinner, you knew one of them would die lol. And then the very second that Spencer approached Negan, I figured it would be him.

It's really a missed opportunity for the show. They should spend more time introducing absolutely insufferable characters, and make them like redshirts. They will be around for maybe 5 episodes at most, and we all know they are going to get it. We can all cheer on, guess what episode they are going down in, etc. The show often takes itself too seriously, having lighter segments would be great.

This sounds a lot like 'Survivor' except with graver consequences.
