I'd give it about a 50/50 chance of the US turning into Gilead within the next 20 years

His "Biden has a 10% chance" is dumb af as well. Biden beat him in 2020 and I'd be shocked if Trump did so much better in swing states next year. National polls are absolutely useless at this time, too.

Would they even let him on the ticket then? Just hypothetically, if they let someone run who could not legally take the office and that person won the election, it seems like a recipe for unrest and disorder.
Unless it is like a Ted Cruz situation, where he was born in another country, but his parents were American and the birth was registered at an American consulate or embassy. I don't know Cenk's family history, but if that was the case, then he would be eligible. I mean, he might not be the smartest guy in the world, but he must know the rules.

I believe his argument is that he is a naturalized citizen and should therefore be allowed to run. I highly doubt the SC would ever agree with him on that one, but given that his run is just a 15 minutes of fame thing and/or cash grab, it won't matter anyway.

I was born in the Calgary General so thankfully I don't share the same pain. My condolences.

I think this speaker’s thing would be solved quickly if a secret vote was permitted. Some GOP voters would vote with the other side.

They need to do something as this has become a complete joke. It goes to show just how fractured the GOP is.

I was looking at some of the ratings (I know, I know) of the Republican debates and it would appear that people aren't tuning in to watch them compared to previous years. I'm guessing this is because their base is already decided on voting for Trump which was expected.
If the Democrats can't clean it up (which they've proven time and time again they are incapable of doing), Trump will win easily. Especially if Biden is his opponent.

Vital cashflow into GOP crippled as donors react to House chaos: report
Quote:
One problem for Republicans is a group of wealthy donors that's looking for revenge over Kevin McCarthy's ouster, the report said.
“They are total pieces of s---,” said Andy Sabin, a longtime Republican donor, about the group, adding that he is encouraging his wealthy friends to instead donate to Matt Gaetz (R-FL), who led the anti-McCarthy drive.
Others want revenge against those who opposed McCarthy's top potential replacement, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA), who later withdrew his name from contention.
|
Quote:
In 2022, a joint fundraising committee led by McCarthy, now called Protect the House, donated to four out of the eight House Republicans who later voted to oust him as speaker, according to OpenSecrets.
Reps. Mace, Eli Crane of Arizona, Virginia’s Bob Good and Matt Rosendale of Montana all received funds from the committee ahead of the last election.
So far this cycle, Mace has received over $180,000 from Protect the House, according to Federal Election Commission records.
Just days before Mace voted to remove McCarthy as speaker, the PAC gave just over $20,000 to her reelection effort, according to a person familiar with the donation.
It’s highly unlikely that lawmakers who voted to remove McCarthy will see any more money from the former speaker’s allied committee this cycle, they added. “He’s nice. He’s not that nice.”
|
Quote:
“Who is going to want to give to these people based on what’s going on? Team McCarthy was a fundraising juggernaut. Losing Kevin McCarthy will be damaging for fundraising,” a longtime Wall Street Republican fundraiser told CNBC.

Biden needs to take a step back for the good of his party, and the nation. Not that he hasn't been decent as President, because he has. But, he does not have 5 more years of being president in him, I'm fairly confident of that. And I do think there is a danger Trump beats him.
Let Newsom off the leash. He would destroy Trump in the debates (if Trump agreed to them, which he probably wouldn't) and in the general. Young(ish), good looking, well spoken with a strong track record. The guy is a shoe in.

I’m a Biden fan but am a bigger fan of keeping Trump out of the White House. Preferably behind bars for a very long time. I wish Joe would step aside in favour of Newsome.

Judge in the J6 case places a partial gag order on Trump. He can't make or repost statements targeting Jack Smith, the court, the court staff, or witnesses. Except Mike Pence lol because Pence is running against Trump.
No mention of specific sanctions doesn't seem.
Hard not to smirk a bit when thinking how he's going to take that.

Any bets on how long until he'll violate the gag order?
Hell I'm surprised we haven't heard from him yet.

When's his next rally? That's when I'd bet he does it.. he might have people to help him control himself on his Xitter clone, but at a live speech if he gets going...

He'll violate it immediately and the courts will wag their finger at him. He's already shown that there are no consequences for anything, as long as there are enough lawyers muddying the waters and running interference for you.

I'm willing to bet he does it today. He seems to think the courts will do nothing and he could be right.
Courts need to show some teeth and revoke his bail and lock him up for a few days to show they are serious.
