I believe in the Jays.
|
I think it should be Backlund because he's he's the captain, he's never been, and because I think Mikael Backlund should get everything... but it will be Kadri (more name value and adds a bit of diversity).
It'd also be nice to see Coleman. Consumate pro on pace for career season late in that career is a nice story.

Been hearing a few rumours today that the Calgary representative is kind of an off-the-board pick. Don't know exactly who it is but it's not a guy like Kadri or Markstrom.

Would be pretty cool if its Coleman or Sharangovich.
I'd say Weegar but I don't think he would be considered an off the board pick either.

Why would it be cool if it is Sharangovich? That would be a ridiculous pick.

Maybe I’m just old but If I was a player I’d be hoping I wasn't picked. Who wants to go to this dog and pony show when you could jet off somewhere warm to recharge/heal. Maybe the rookies enjoy it but I doubt the vets care much.

He wouldn't likely deserve the pick on merit, as others have had better years. But on pure skill? He probably would show much better in the skills competition than any other Flame.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

Pump his tires up!
Maybe an all-star invite will turn it all around.
115 point pace after his invite puts him at 80 points for the year.

The whole thing is ridiculous in nature, isn't it?
It's a meaningless exhibition but its designed to showcase talent and to grow the game. Wouldn't a very skilled player from a very unskilled team be kind of cool to watch?
The term "Deserving" is subjective to begin with. There are no inherent All-star qualifications, and the fact that every team has to send a delegate already dilutes and weakens the "deserve" factor.

Eastern Conference
Boone Jenner with 18 points in 25 games (7th on his own team in scoring)
Tom Wilson with 19 points in 36 games (4th on his own team in scoring)
It's very NHL to have rookies in Fantilli or Marchenko that would be building a young new star in the NHL... and then take Boone Jenner.

Sharangovich has been excellent, he would be a fine selection.

MacKenzie Weegar's 22 points in in 37 games, as a defensive defenseman, is a lot more impressive than Coleman's 27 points 37 games, as a winger.
Just my opinion.

I hope whoever goes actually has an all star skill set, and that’s why I picked Markstrom. He’s been the closest thing to an all star we have this year in my opinion. It’s easy to root for a guy like Coleman, but as an invite? No thanks. There’s guys on other teams with more goals than he (or any flame) has points this year. For that reason alone it shouldn’t be a forward from our team.
Weegar would also be good to see, but he’s not going to be in contention to win any contest either except for maybe all star man rocket.

McDavid changed the rules so only a few people get into that competition anyway.
